We introduced the first FDA-cleared diagnostic test kit for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) nearly 30 years ago. In 1996, we revolutionized cervical cancer screening with our ThinPrep® Pap test, now the most widely used cervical specimen collection product in the world.

Today, our state-of-the-art Aptima® assays quickly identify diseases like chlamydia, gonorrhea and trichomoniasis at early stages. ThinPrep is the only FDA-approved test that boosts lab productivity by allowing for integrated screening for cervical cell abnormalities and HPV testing from a single sample with our Aptima® HPV assays. Screening with Pap+HPV Together™, also known as co-testing, is now the preferred method for cervical cancer screening for women between the ages of 30 and 65.

Hologic’s commitment to women’s health continues with Aptima® Mycoplasma genitalium assay – the first fully automated NAAT test that can pinpoint M. genitalium infections with precision.*

In addition we offer the fetal Fibronectin (fFN) test – a safe, reliable way to predict the risk of pre-term birth with 99.2% accuracy.4

Procleix® assays, developed in partnership with Grifols and manufactured by Hologic increase the safety of the world’s donated blood supply by accurately detecting the genetic presence of viruses, including HIV, hepatitis C, hepatitis B and the West Nile Virus. With 79% of the U.S. blood supply tested with Hologic assays, the risk of contacting dangerous diseases from blood transfusions is less than 1 in 1 million.5

Hologic assays go beyond aiding in the diagnosis and screening. They’re also used to monitor patients who have already been diagnosed and help clinicians better manage treatment. The Aptima® HIV-1 Quant Dx assay is the first HIV viral load assay for both diagnosis and treatment monitoring.** Hologic also launched the Aptima® HCV Quant Dx and Aptima® HBV Quant assays, creating a broad and deep viral testing menu on our Panther system.*

Heavy menstrual bleeding is a major health problem that interrupts life for millions of women. In fact, one in every five women suffers from what is known as abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) by the time she reaches menopause.
