LOSERS LOUNGE

LONGER SYNOPSIS

....hollywood ’s Destroyed BeTTeR

wriTers Imagine a small, depressed town whose claim to fame is a record number of meth factories per trailer park, followed by the annual cheese ball competition... What are four down-on-their-luck guys whose imaginary characters spring to life at the most inopportune times to do? Like aspiring screenwriters everywhere, they form a workshop and meet religiously at the local diner that doubles as a Chinese chop shop. The wanna-be-screenwriters nurture & support their bad ideas until, in short order, they become Failure Enablers. Big trouble arises, however, when freshly divorced KIRBY, who works at a cheese factory, turns forty & slams into the dreaded Writers Block for the first time in his life-long career as an Unknown Scribe. When a fellow LoSER pitches Kirby’s script, a sleazy bottom-feeder Hollywood producer actually shows up in their sleepy town with his entourage, DITTO & VERA. The Trio promptly wreaks havoc on the LoSERS and CHESNEY, the surly waitress & LoSER muse, forcing the LOSERS into competition in the diner they consider home. Forced to confront their values of friendship, creative integrity & success, the four LoSERS come to realize that sometimes...failure can be its own reward. www.losersloungethemovie.com [email protected] Ideal Productions LLC T: 917-701-4197

LoSERS LoUNGE

The LoSER PLAYERS

KIRBY: Delusions of being “Hollywood”-sports a ponytail/baseball cap style that was

popular before the millennium. Divorced, middle-aged, he is the most desperate for success of the gang. Don Quixote to his gang of windmill chasers.

DYLAN: Endearing conspiracy, anti-establishment guy. Uber-feminist -but still can’t

get laid. Guilty pleasure: chick flicks. SCRAPPY: Rarely speaks except when he goes into a film rant.

A walking thrift shop disaster & perennial office supply shoplifter. Intimidated by the entire female race.

TRAVIS: A wanna-be Hipster. Playboy of the gang. Unable to pass a

mirror without checking himself out. Obsessed with inventing a new “cutting edge” writing genre. CHESNEY: Sassy, sexy, and not as sophisticated as she thinks. Our losers are obsessed

with her since she clearly wants nothing to do with them. SHMALTZ: Hollywood. Bottom. Feeder. Producer. Talks in Italics. Umbilically connected to his cell phone.

VERA: Shmaltz’s slave girl assistant. She bears the brunt of his megalomaniac

tirades with a deadpan demeanor. DITTO: Shmaltz’s male slave assistant. Another whipping post for Shmaltz. We

suspect he may be lawyer, but we’re never sure.

ALPHA GUY: A screenwriter. An air of success permeates any room he graces. Your basic, state-of-the-art anti-loser.

LoSERS LoUNGE DIRECTOR’S NOTE: JANINA KIJNER

LoSERS LoUNGE was written & made in the same spirit that many aspiring screenwriters bring to a project; with passion, persistence & a dream. It sprung from a need for comedy, in a post terrorist world, and the belief that friendship, creativity & comradery can bring meaning to life, regardless of what conventional society considers success. As a screenwriter-for-hire, I've often had doormen, plumbers, baristas & almost everybody at any dinner party tell me about the screenplays they're working on, despite their inexperience with the art & craft of writing. Successful and struggling screenwriters often have the same complaints: When you're a screenwriter, facing the blank page every day, suddenly the entire planet becomes a critic, including your own family who doesn't believe that you actually have a "real"job. Writers, like dreamers everywhere, are dissed constantly, but, I truly believe that Quitting is for LoSERS. LoSERS LoUNGE, a 90 minute satire, was shot in 10 nights on digital video under a SAG Agreement.
