‘FKTRY’ (factory) was created as part of a self-initiated project for my second year of university; a brand which marries functional art with street fashion in an online webstore. I wanted to create a unique hub through which young adults could discover art forms such as posters and zines together with fashion, and hopefully raise interest in these areas. The name
was inspired by Andy Warhol’s ‘Factory’ where he created an environment through which different artists could come together and be creative in their own unique way, which is what I wish to achieve through this brand.

The title, ‘Bear The Gree’ is from an old Scottish phrase ‘to bear the gree’, meaning to decidedly victor or to take precedence of others. It derives from the word ‘Gre’, an old term for the greyhound. This publication deals with the life of the greyhound during its racing career, and what happens once it retires and ends up in a new home. It showcases the two
extremes, one rigid, structural life existing only as a number, and then the confusion that is created once it is expected to be an individual, a member of a family.

The brand name Root & Basal reflects the marriage of both the minimalistic aspect of the utilitarian, and the ultimate importance of being eco-friendly and thinking about the environment. Root & Basal is a British utilitarian brand, a sister brand of the ‘Allotinabox’ brand whose ethos evolves around being eco-friendly, sustainable and yet current, catering towards the young professionals in terms of target
market. Root & Basal intends towards the same audience; however, providing basic, traditional British household goods as well as outdoor products and various accessories.

A book based on the screenplay of the film ‘The Tree of Life’ by Terence Malick, analyzing the issues of religion and the meaning of life through photography. By inserting real images of photojournalism and other unsanctioned yet
‘real’ imagery, I aim to question the validity of Malick’s methods in conveying his ideas. I wanted to present the screenplay in a pedagogic manner through which to encourage the reader to analyze both the real imagery and screenshots from the film, and through my ‘realist’ approach and Malick’s religious approach, can come to a unique interpretation of their own. The ‘truth’ behind each image is hard to reach out of context, but ultimately presents to the viewer a series of messages
to be decoded.

Some sample mockup suggestions I produced for the Singapore College of Insurance, who wanted to update their current program brochures.I suggested a more minimalist approach, with two-toned
colour schemes for each brochure and produced a sample of two pages per colour scheme.
