Ecovat Energy Storage Systems The Ecovat thermal storage vessel enables storage of heat and cold with an efficiency of 90% over a period of 6 months. Combined with the Ecovat net balancing system, energy can be taken from the net in case of overproduction (power to heat) and stored for use at moments of over-demand. Using this imbalance market, the energy for storage can be bought at low or negative prices. Renewable energy sources create imbalances in the grid. Up to now the balance has been restored with fossil-fuel electricity plants. CO2 reduction therefore remains far behind expectations and EU directives’ target. The Ecovat net balancing system combines thermal storage and electric

storage and uses electricity from the grid at moments of overproduction

(low or negative prices) to store in batteries or transform the energy to

heat and store it in an Ecovat thermal storage vessel. Heat and cold will

be used in a local heat grid for a district of 200-1000 houses or equivalent

utility buildings.

EMODZ B.V. Von Amsterdam nach Berlin is the name of a Dutch-German consortium of innovative companies, focusing in particular on the metropolitan areas of Hamburg and Berlin. Electrically powered cars are not the only point of this project: the goal is also to develop new, intelligent electric mobility solutions, including the new group of light electric vehicles (LEVs). As part of this, Partners for International Business (PIB) and suppliers of conven-tional charging infrastructures are focusing on the network dependence of charge-depleting and charge-sustaining vehicles. To ensure optimal use of new technology, top experts in the scientific and research sectors and the battery industry have joined forces with international experts who have proven abilities in supporting the plan-ning and development of e-mobility concepts commercially as well as in public spaces. ElaadNL (e-mobility partner)

ElaadNL is the knowledge and innovation centre in the field of (smart)

charging infrastructure and is owned by the Dutch DSOs. ElaadNL

coordinates the connections of public charging stations to the electricity

grid and has been working from the beginning to adapt the grid

connection demands to make these more fitting to charge points.

The existing charging stations are managed by EVnetNL to provide an

innovative charge network, a living lab for ElaadNL. The emergence of

electric mobility and sustainable charging is a significant development for

the electricity grid. Through their mutual involvement via ElaadNL, the

DSOs acquire an overview of the measures to be taken to ensure that the

network remains reliable and affordable, whilst enabling the develop-

ment of E-mobility. Innovative solutions are explored that will generate

great benefits for society.

Dutch-INCERT (e-mobility partner) Dutch-INCERT is a collaboration of knowledge institutes that stimulates

innovation and research into electric mobility. The six knowledge insti-

tutes that are part of Dutch-INCERT each have student teams that focus

on innovation and research of electric mobility. The electric vehicles

range from family cars to motorbikes and boats, and are powered by

various energy sources ranging from solar panels to hydrogen fuel cells.

Trikke Europe (e-mobility partner) Trikke Europe produces in Putten (The Netherlands) a Personal Light Electric Vehicle (PLEV). Having no seat, the Trikke Electric Vehicle (EV) is a fast, convenient and proven PLEV for among others police officers and people working in security and health services. The Trikke EV can easily be charged using a normal power plug and is approved for German public roads.

With the world becoming more and more urban, people will increase their movements and mobility becomes a hard to solve issue for municipalities and regional or national governments. Using Trikke EV’s to guaranty mobility in densely populated areas, will get cars of the road and reduce CO2-emissions.

Trikke Europe is part of an international organization with production facilities and offices in Europe, the United States, Brazil, and China. The Trikke, an invention of Gildo Beleski, was sold about 300.000 times worldwide. Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland Formula E-Team, the national public-private platform for e-mobility

In the Netherlands, the Formula E-Team serves as an ambassador and

pioneer for electric transport. The team brings together business, aca-

demia, and government to advance electric driving in the Netherlands.

The Formula E-Team discusses progress and provides substantial advice

to the government and other stakeholders on various aspects of electric

driving. The team inspires these stakeholders to work together to devise

creative solutions to problems that arise. The cornerstones of the Formu-

la E-Team’s agenda are as follows:

• Stimulate policies for clean vehicles;

• Stimulate development of a basic network of charging stations;

• Stimulate e-mobility in niche markets;

Team FAST

Team FAST is an ambitious, multidisciplinary student team from

Eindhoven University of Technology that stands for sustainability and

innovation. The idea for this team was born after a group of honors

students succeeded in building a very small model car that ran on

Formic Acid. This accomplishment quickly led to the ambition to scale up

this technology. The team even won the Brains Award 2015, a sustaina-

bility prize, at the end of the academic year. At the start of the academic

year 2015-2016, Team FAST was born with the goal to make this

ambition a reality. Currently, Team FAST has 22 members with very

diverse educational backgrounds and skills. The team has both part-

timers and full-timers.
