    INTRODUCTION

    In 1972 Holland Diving International B.V. started as an independent company (beforepart of Holland Ships Contractors B.V.), based in the harbour of Vlaardingen, situatedbetween Rotterdam and Europoort.

    Holland Diving International B.V. has been executing inspections, salvage andunderwater cleaning operations successfully in Africa, the Middle East and the FarEast countries, and all of West Europe.

    Between 1972 and 1982 the main operations were for the shipping industry andmarine contractors respectively in the Rotterdam harbour area.

    In 1982 initial successful steps were taken in the offshore industry at the DutchContinental Shelf, salvage and inspection and construction diving works in the MiddleEast countries and Indonesia.

    So the Internationalbehind our name became reality and now in this new centurythe Jobs overseas are still growing.

    We are in close contact with various classification bureaus and approved by themsuch as Bureau Veritas, American Bureau of Shipping, Lloyds Register of Shippingand Germanischer Lloyd, R.I.N.A., Russian Register of Shipping, Det NorskeVeritas, Nippon Kaiji Kyokai, they recognise our capacities and accept our reports.This also is applicable for our Quality Assurance.The other quality assurance is thecertification of ISO9001 together with VCA which stands for safety certification.

    REPORTING

    Holland Diving International B.V. meets to the requirements of her clients withrespect to a proper final report after good service underwater.

    The fact that companies like Lloyds, A.B.S., Veritas and Germanischer Lloyds,accept our computerised reports, proves the quality thereof.

    RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT

    Several tools and constructions are developed in house, mostly for specific contracts.Also in co-operation with suppliers tools have been modified according clients

    requirements.Of course, safety for the diver plays a decisive part herein.

    During the years, divers of Holland Diving International B.V. have performedthousands of different jobs.

    Shipping Industry

    - Polishing propellers.- Accurate inspection in co-operation with various classification bureaus for

    obtaining an extension of dry-docking.- Underwater cutting, welding and drilling.- Blanking/plugging-off intakes/overboards to allow for a safe repair or renewal of

    valves.- Supporting the dock-master during docking for exact positioning on the dock-

    blocks of damaged vessels (flat-bottom) and rigs (spud-cans).

    Workshop stores

    Situated in the centre at the port of Rotterdam we have apart from our office, a storefor storage of spare diving equipment and all kinds of consumables.Furthermore we have a workshop for repair and maintenance of pumps, aggregates,

    cleaning machines etc.Also existing machines/tools are improved or adjusted for underwater use.Of course, in our workshop a great part of the development of new tools andmachines takes place.

    Those 42 marine piles of an existing sea-jetty have been cleaned from variousmarine growth, rust scales and loose parts of coating.Pitting and serious cavitated spots have been treated with paste previous toapplication of the Marine Pile Protection Systems.Above and below the covers steel rings are fitted to avoid vertical movement.

    Those 8 marine piles were part of a complete rehabilitation of a slipway and adjacentmooring facilities.It was decided to protect the marine piles upto the underside of the concreteconstruction to minimise maintenance on this awkward locations.All piles were cleaned from marine growth, rustscales and loose parts of the coating.Only below the covers, a steel ring has been fitted to avoid vertical movement.

    16 piles were part of an existing quaywall and 8 of reconstructed mooring facilities.All 24 piles were cleaned from marine growth, rustscales and loose parts of thecoating.

    Where necessary, paste has been applied to the spots with pitting and/or cavitation.The 16 piles under the quay are protected upto the concrete construction to minimisemaintenance on this awkward locations.Only below the cover, steel rings were fitted to avoid vertical movements.The 8 piles of the mooring facilities are protected from 2 mtr. below the lowest lowwater upto 2 mtr. above the highest high water.Above and below the covers, steel rings were fitted to avoid vertical movements.

    Small sea-jetty in sheltered waters.

    The 8 piles were part of a renovation and maintenance program.A thick layer of various hard marine growth, such as barnacles, tubeworm, corral andmussels, was covering the splash and tidal zone of the piles.Our pilebrush, adjustable to the diameter of the piles and fitted with special brushes,met no problems during the removal thereof.The piles are protected from 1 mtr. below the lowest low water upto 1 mtr. above thehighest high water.Steel rings were fitted above and below the covers to avoid vertical movements.

    The Zuetina, crude loading, sea-jetty was a brand new built jetty.Only slight slime layer must be removed because application of the Marine PileProtection Systems commenced immediately after the final building fase.Some spots with damaged coating have been treated with paste.

    20 piles in the breaker and landwash area have been protected from seabed upto 2mtr. above the average waterline to prevent this piles from abrasion by sand and/or

    shingle.The other 60 piles are protected from 2 mtr. below, upto 2 mtr. above the averagewaterline.

    This oil-jetty is located on the North bank of the river Westerschelde.Her capricious character, murky water and the high velocity of prevailing tidalcurrents make this river one of the most hostile locations of the Dutch waters.In spite of the unfavourable circumstances 32 jetty piles have been applied with theMarine Pile Protection Systems after removal of large amounts of hard marinegrowthsuch as barnacles and mussels.4 piles with a diameter of 2500 m/m were protected over a height of 2340 m/m.4 piles with a diameter of 2500 m/m were protected over a height of 4680 m/m.24 piles with a diameter of 1420 m/m were protected over a height of 4680 m/m.
