Holistic Program for Health Care Facilities

A Non-Invasive Approach

• In the Holistic Program presented to our registrants, I introduce a sampling of Eastern modalities to them. At the beginning I educate them on Chakras in order for them to key in on various energy centers in their bodies. I also touch on the differences in Western and Eastern medicine.

• The major difference between Eastern and Western medicine is that in Eastern medicine the focus is on balance. The body and mind should be in balance with the environment surrounding it. Eastern practitioners strive to cultivate this balance, thereby eliminating illness and disease. In Western medicine, the balance of body and mind is not considered, so illness and disease are approached as needing to be "fixed" when broken.

• Energy & the Chakra Subway System

• Picture the map that reveals the various stops that it will make along its destination. Your body has a conductor (brain), engine (heart), and currents of electricity (nervous system), gears (organs) and so on. It is easy to see that if any of these breaks down there is a slow up (discord) or halting of the system entirely (disease).

• Now picture the map of the system, each stop with a circle to pinpoint where the intended stop is. Each circle (Chakra) is needed otherwise the system runs without a destination and therefore for no apparent reason.

• Now let us use the railroad system to understand the flow of the Chakras.

• A local train has many stops, which enables more people to board. People continually boarding causes the train to become congested. Exposure to possible disease, breathing into a closed environment with stale air, and other offensives can cause our body to react. Notice what your senses are experiencing now. Even the thought of someone being so close to you with body odor would surely have you wanting to leave the train at the next stop.

• An express train has two stops, which enable you to go from point A to point B with ease. People are sitting with personal space well protected. Ventilation allows the breathing in of your own breathes and you may close your eyes and picture a pleasant day when you arrive. Notice what your senses are experiencing now, you might want to stay on this train longer.

Aromatherapy• Aromatherapy is a technique in

which essential oils from plants are used with the intention of preventing or treating illness, reducing stress, or enhancing well-being. Fragrance oils and products containing man-made compounds are not used in the practice of genuine aromatherapy. Essential oils are what will be used in the Holistic Program, either by diffusing into the air and/or gently placing them below the palms of both hands.

• Essential Oils are not really “oils”. They are the highly concentrated liquid that comes from the plant.

• A allergic profile will be obtained prior to the beginning of the program.

Day OneYoga Practice

Movement is a vital celebration of life• A Certified Yoga Instructor will lead

the practice. The physical postures that yoga provides help the body to build strength, muscle tone, increase flexibility and balance, as well as condition the cardiovascular system.

• Integrating the breathing techniques with the postures helps to focus the mind, as well as generate energy within the body. The Chakra’s will be used as a reference to guide the energy to where it needs to go. Each time yoga is practiced the body will be more accepting of the pose and send the energy to where it is needed most in the body.

Day TwoMeditation

If you can breathe, you can meditate

• A Certified Healer will lead the Meditation. Resting your attention on breathe will allow any thoughts, feelings, sensations to easily float by. Like clouds moving in the sky, your thoughts will not alter those clouds, let those thoughts just go by. Saying to yourself breathe in and breathe out will focus your attention where it needs to be. As you listen to your internal breathing any other detail surrounding you will not be strong enough to disrupt your meditation. The moment you realize that your thoughts went elsewhere, gently come back to breathe. There is no right or wrong, just go with whatever thoughts you have and then return to breathe.

Day ThreeReiki

• Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen life force energy flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.

• Sitting in a chair, A Certified Reiki Practitioner will gentle place their hands on your shoulders, using meditation techniques, telling fun stories and asking you to receive the goodness of the universe, one need do nothing for Reiki to work. The body knows where the healing energy needs to go and it does.

The participant will be supplied with the doctor’s phone number for any questions related to pain, massage or treatment that was received. Policy & ProceduresFormsTools

• Rounding off the four day week of practice it is our belief that with measurable outcomes we can see what effect the program is having on the participant. Using two tested tools; Beck Depression Inventory and Beck Anxiety Inventory, our psychologists will assess the feelings of the participant at the initiation of the Holistic program and at the end of the Holistic program.

• At anytime that an untoward effect is exhibited the program will be stopped immediate for that participant and appropriate intervention will occur with no prejudice to trying the program.

• A consent will be signed by the participant and Designated representative prior to the beginning of the program. Upon completion of the program the Handbook will be returned for the next group to participate.

• This handbook will serve as policy & procedure for the program. Including profile & consent form, and the two Beck Inventory tools
