MISSION The Dutchess Community College Academy of Music is a partnership between credit-free music offerings and the college’s Performing Arts: Music Track Associate Degree and Music Performance Certificate program. The DCC Academy of Music is committed to providing individual lessons, ensembles and group classes for the musical enrichment of students with both avocational and professional ambitions, as well as the needs and interests of the diverse populations from across the region, including children and life-long learners. The DCC Academy of Music also serves as a teaching institute, permitting students interested in pursuing employment in music education key opportunities to receive training and mentorship while serving the broader community.

ONLINE FORMATDon’t know when “social distancing” will end? Longing to socially interact with more people than your immediate family? Take our online individual lessons or group classes and share what you’re working on musically! Our instructors are experienced in delivering high quality musical instruction in an online format using Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, etc., as well as providing technical assistance on how to get everything set up. In order to take online lessons and classes you will need a reliable internet connection, device (smartphone, computer, tablet, etc.) and place where you can make music. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our in-person offerings will be suspended for the summer and will move to a completely online format. We plan to continue online music instruction in the fall, and resume our in-person offerings for group classes and individual lessons then.

Chamber Music Ensembles and Combos are available in any style or instrumentation from classical/jazz to contemporary/pop styles.
