Hoarding disorder, classified as one of the obsessive-compulsive and related disorders in the DSM-5, presents particular challenges in therapeutic work, including treatment ambivalence and lack of insight of those affected. This evidence-based guide written by leading ex-perts presents the latest knowledge on assessment and treatment of hoarding disorder. The reader gains a thorough grounding in the treat-ment of choice for hoarding – a specific form of CBT interweaved with psychoeducational, motivational, and harm-reduction approaches to

enhance treatment outcome. Rich anecdotes and clinical pearls illu-minate the science, and the book also includes information for special client groups, such as older individuals and those who hoard animals. Printable handouts help busy practitioners.

This book is essential reading for clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, and practitioners who work with older populations, as well as students.

“Hoarding disorder is a difficult problem to treat, yet clinicians can learn to treat it once they understand the condition and the evidence-based treatment for it. This thoughtful, concise, and well-written text presents the most current treatment approaches for this challenging condition. If you wish to help those who suffer with the debilitating problem of hoarding, get this book and learn from these experienced scientist–practitioners.”

This book, written and edited by leading experts from around the world, looks critically at how culture impacts on the way posttrau-matic stress disorder (PTSD) and related disorders are diagnosed and treated. There have been important advances in clinical treatment and research on PTSD, partly as a result of researchers and clinicians increasingly taking into account how “culture matters.”

For mental health professionals who strive to respond to the needs of people from diverse cultures who have experienced traumatic events, this book will be invaluable. It presents recent research and practical approaches on key topics, including:

• How culture shapes mental health and recovery• How to integrate culture and context into PTSD theory• How trauma-related distress is experienced and expressed in different

cultures, reflecting local values, idioms, and metaphors• How to integrate cultural dimensions into psychological interventions.

Providing new theoretical insights as well as practical advice, it will be of interest to clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, and other health professionals, as well as researchers and students engaged with mental health issues, both globally and locally.

“The field of cultural clinical psychology takes an important stride forward with this carefully edited volume on the cultural shaping of posttraumatic stress disorder. An impressive group of experts com-bines rich theory with empirical and clinical examples from a wide range of contexts, embracing the complexity of the subject while pointing the way to potential solutions. This volume ought to be read by anyone working at the intersection of culture and mental health.”

This compact guide is packed with the latest knowledge on the as-sessment and treatment of persistent depressive disorders (PDDs) – the new DSM-5 diagnosis that amalgamates the categories dysthy-mic disorder (DD), chronic major depression (MDD), and DD with major depressive episode (MDE).

Written by a leading expert, the book guides us through the complex-ities of assessing PDDs and the models for understanding how these difficult to identify and potentially life-threatening disorders develop and are maintained over long periods. It then outlines those therapies that have the strongest evidence base. The author goes on to explore in

detail cognitive behavioral analysis system of psychotherapy (CBASP), a treatment specifically developed for PDDs. This compelling inte-grated approach incorporates components of learning, developmen-tal, interpersonal, and cognitive theory with aspects of interpersonal mindfulness. We are led expertly through the therapeutic process us-ing clinical vignettes and practical tips, with particular attention paid to identifying the assessment and therapy methods most valuable in CBASP. Printable tools in the appendices can be used in daily practice.

This book is of interest to clinical psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, counsellors, and students.
