Dear Member of the Class of 2013, As you embark on what will be one of the most transformative experiences of your life, I want to take a moment to extend a warm welcome and let you know that I feel personally vested in your success. I hope you will see Hofstra Law as a partner during these critical years when you begin to shape your professional identity as a lawyer.
These next few days might feel a bit like a whirlwind — you will meet current students, faculty, administrators and alumni who will give you an overview of what to expect during your next three years as a Hofstra Law student. Rest assured that, from student affairs to legal reasoning, we will be there to help you succeed.
I encourage you to be involved in our community. The convergence of classes, studying, family and working can often make it difficult to schedule quality time with classmates and faculty. Keep in mind that the interactions you have outside the classroom are as valuable to your personal and professional development as those you have within it.
To help you keep track of all that is going on at Hofstra Law, we have launched twitter.com/HofLawStudents to communicate administrative announcements and timely information about events, speakers and student activities. I hope you will “connect,” as they say. Also, keep an eye on the television monitors throughout the school for helpful information and interesting news about our community.
Over the last few years, I have worked to assemble an administration that mirrors the excellence of our faculty and student body. I encourage you to reach out to these professionals if you need information, resources or any assistance — not just this week, but throughout your entire time at Hofstra Law. I assure you that you will always find a helping hand.
Again, welcome — today you begin a journey that will change how you look at the world and indelibly link you with the Hofstra Law community. We are thrilled to accompany you on this journey.
With warm regards,
Nora V. Demleitner, Dean
