HLR/HSS Home Location Register
Basic HLR FunctionalityHLR is a central database which contain details of each mobile subscriber who has access to the mobile network. This include IMSI/SIM card number, MSISDN, optional services, current location and diversions
The HLR allows for full transparency and contral over customer information. This information can be used to build value added services
Authentication Center (AUC)
AUC Identifies the SIM card that is trying to connect to the Mobile Network. When the SIM card has been identified, then the HLR gets permission to handle the SIM card and the services attached to it
Fully redundant design Since the HLR is a central network element, it is of almost importancy to secure that the HLR is operational at all times so the subscribers do not experience lack of service
