History of thanksgiving
In the year 1620 people set sailed for America on a ship called The mayflower .The people were called The Pilgrims, they came from England. The journey was very hard because they lived in bad conditions (they had to stay under the deck, the sea was rough there were storms).
The first winter was very difficult. The Pilgrims were cold and hungry.
The Pilgrims left England because of religious problems.
Half of the Pilgrims died during the winter 1620-162
In the spring of 1621, a friendly Indian came to visit. He could speak English Squanto, from the Wampanoag tribe of Native Americans.
The Indians helped the Pilgrims survive. They showed them how to plant corn . The Pilgrims
worked hard. They built houses. They went hunting and fishing .
The fall harvest was so good in 1621 and the Pilgrims were so thankful that they decided to have a big dinner . They invited their Native American friends. They had a big party for three days. It was the first THANKSGIVING
