Build the ExcitementFor Hino Trucks, 2009FY was a year of growth during challenging times. During a slow

economic recovery, Hino managed to exceed sales targets with retail sales reaching 3,174 units for the fiscal year and maintained or gained market share in all medium

duty classes.

Hino Trucks celebrated a company milestone in 2009 – selling trucks for 25 years in the United States. Entering the U.S. market with a COE medium-duty truck in 1984, Hino trucks have evolved to the current conventional truck, which was first introduced in the U.S. in 2004. Since the launch of the cab over engine, Hino Trucks has significantly strengthened its presence in the U.S. with a network of over 173 dealers and 8 parts and service providers, corporate expansions and local manufacturing in West Virginia. Hino has grown to the world’s third largest manufacturer of light and medium duty trucks.

This past September, Hino expanded its product offering through a strengthened relationship with Fontaine Modification. Fontaine opened a dedicated modification center in Williamstown, WV, to support Hino’s West Virginia based truck assembly plant. This extension of the plant allows Hino to offer more options to dealers, and compete in new markets like snow plow, utility, shuttle bus and ambulance.

Then in November, Hino Trucks received the J.D. Power and Associates Award for “Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Conventional Medium Duty Engines and Transmissions” for the second year. This award is the ultimate recognition because it is the voice of the customer of the on-road experience they have had with our product.

~ Continued on page 2

Hino received the highest numerical score among conventional medium engines and transmissions in the proprietary J.D. Power and Associates 2008-2009 Medium Duty Truck Engine and Transmission Customer Satisfaction StudiesSM. 2009 study based on responses from 1,589 responses measuring 7 manufacturers. Survey was of primary maintainers and owner operators

and measures opinions of primary maintainers of two-year-old (by model year) Medium Duty (Class 5, 6, and 7) trucks. Proprietary study results are based on experiences and perceptions of consumers surveyed in July – August 2009. Your experiences may vary. Visit jdpower.com.

BECAUSE THE PLANET DOESN’T TAKE CREDITS.EPA2010 Emissions Regulations call for unprecedented reductions in NOx and particulate matter. Hino has engineered a solution that meets or exceeds the requirements with no carbon credits, no smoke, no mirrors - just the solid expertise in engineering you expect from Hino. Visit HINOSCR.COM for details.

~ Build the Excitement, continued from page 1

So much is happening in the trucking industry today – these times are unprecedented and often unpredictable. But one thing is certain... As the EPA10 Emissions Regulations go into effect, Hino will be the only medium duty engine manufacturer that will be selling trucks without the use of credits.

But that is just the beginning. When choosing a Hino truck, customers are selecting the most fuel efficient, most reliable, most environmentally friendly truck on the market…with Hino, they Choose Confidence. The confidence of a company backed by two consecutive J.D. Power and Associates Awards, unique, industry leading SCR design, and continued expansion into various vocational applications and markets.

During the 2011MY Clear Difference Tour, dealers experienced Hino’s new product offering first hand. The debut of the new 2011MY 268 and 338 featured a redesigned cab and a new bold front grille. The 338 model powered by the six-cylinder 8.0L J08E-VB engine produces 260 HP and an increased 660 lb.-ft of torque (a 13% increase over the 2010 model). Dealers also had the opportunity to learn about and see up-close the new Hino SCR system,

which will help produce better fuel economy in the range of 3.5% - 5.0%. Also all 2011MY Hino Trucks are fully compatible to interact and provide on-board diagnostic through several telematics systems providers, such as WebTech Wireless and PeopleNet.

So, what’s next for Hino? During the Fire Department Instructors Conference in April, Hino unveiled for the first time an ambulance chassis, which will be released this summer. Then toward the end of 2011, Hino will introduce its third generation proprietary diesel-electric hybrid system in a newly designed 2012MY Class 4 and Class 5 COE, engineered to meet the needs of the U.S. market. The COE will use the JO5E four-cylinder engine with more than 200 HP and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

At Hino Trucks, we are proud of our achievements and are focused on a vision of an optimistic future. Together, as we continue to grow the Hino brand in the medium duty truck market, we will continue to strive for ways to improve, expand and excel. Expect great things from Hino Trucks. Expect our customers to

CHOOSE CONFIDENCE.

2010 Truck of the Year! The Hino Team sat on the edge of their seats as

the nominees for Medium Duty Commercial Truck of the Year were presented during a luncheon

on April 25 at the American Truck Dealers (ATD) Convention & Expo. This would mark the first time a medium duty version of the award would be presented – previously it had only been given to heavy duty trucks. ATD Chair Pam Hall announced, “ Nominees in the medium-duty class Truck of the Year are: Kenworth T370 Diesel-Electric Hybrid, Freightliner Business Class M2 112 Natural Gas, Peterbilt Model 337 and Hino Trucks model 268. And the winner is HINO TRUCKS!”

Sumio Fukaya, President and CEO of Hino Trucks, proudly accepted the award on behalf of the company and said, “We want to thank the ATD and the National Automotive Dealers Association (NADA) in giving attention to the important medium duty truck market by creating

this new category for this coveted award. The Truck of the Year award acknowledges the countless efforts our

Hino Team endures to create an outstanding product our customers can rely on.”

The Truck of the Year award is given based on innovation, design, fuel economy, driver and owner satisfaction, ease of maintenance and safety of the truck. “All the trucks in this year’s event were fine examples of the great strides manufacturers have been making in developing new products,” said Hall. “The winner brought the best combination of new features, driver comfort and safety systems.” The judging panel consisted of journalists from leading truck publications in North America.

In addition to this product achievement, two Hino dealers were nominated by their peers as “Truck Dealer of the Year”. The dealers are Greg Lesher, President of Lesher Mack Sales & Service, Inc., in Lebanon, PA, and Ron Meyering, President of M & K Quality Truck Sales in Byron Center, MI. It is a national industry award presented by the ATD and Heavy Duty Trucking magazine and recognizes excellence in business practices, industry leadership, civic contributions and community service.

Congratulations Team Hino!

NTEA Work Truck ShowWith the spring show season upon us, the buzz on the show floor and around the industry is all about Hino Trucks. Hino came out swinging at our first stop in St. Louis for the NTEA Work Truck Show. Our 2011MY product took center stage at its first public showing. And what a reception it received! Our chassis update session generated interest from all attendees as Glenn Ellis, Hino Vice President, Marketing and Dealer Operations, shared some of our key achievements of 2009 and the future of Hino products.

Our new EPA10 engine display featuring Hino’s latest SCR technology had the competition getting out their camera and tape measure to see why “The Hino SCR system is better, more compact and more aesthetically pleasing” than theirs. And, did we mention Hino will be the only medium duty engine manufacturer that will be selling trucks without the use of credits? That is a fact! And the competition is taking notice.

Mid America Truck ShowThe next stop was Louisville, Kentucky at the Mid America Truck Show, which is an owner-operator driven event. With just over 5 years in the U.S. conventional market, exposure for Hino at this show is imperative as we continue to grow our brand and educate a new customer base on the Hino advantages.

BevOps Fleet SummitMore firsts for Hino! It was our first time at the show, first time sponsor, first time Ride & Drive participant (two trucks – 268A with a Refrigerator Body and 338 City Tractor) and the 2011MY 338 “Mixology” beverage truck was on display. Vernon Allen, Hino Vice President, Fleet Sales, took to the stage during a Vehicle Maintenance Best Practices session and gave Hino’s take on how to save money for your fleet. This event is attended by influential members of the beverage market and an important stop on the Hino event schedule.

Florida Tow ShowLast stop – Orlando for the Florida Tow Show. For the third year, Hino, along with Miller Industries and Professional Wreckers of Florida (PWOF) raffled off a fully loaded, 2010 Hino 258 tow truck with a Miller body. And this year’s lucky raffle ticket holder was Joseph Kolodziej, (pronounced “Kolodgie”) Sr. of Joe’s Trucking in Largo, Florida (shown in picture above with Gary Mickiewicz, Hino Vice President, Sales, East and Sheree Greenhalge, Hino Shows and Event Coordinator). PV Rentals started out in a small office building with a rental fleet that consisted of a few cargo vans and a couple of cars. Today, PV Rentals has grown to three rental locations, a sales facility and offices for leasing programs.

PV Rentals’ fleet has over 800 vehicles - all less than 2 years old – with 35 different vehicle types such as cars, cargo vans, passenger vans, SUVs, mini vans, pickup trucks, stake bed trucks and box trucks of various sizes, including many Hino’s. PV Rentals purchased their first Hino in June 2005, and has since added 100 units consisting of 185’s and 268’s. “PV Rentals has been a great customer to work with. Mr. Peavy is a savvy businessman and we have been fortunate to deal with someone who is fair and well-informed about his truck purchases,” said Mike Turner, Rush Truck Center – Houston Medium Duty Sales Manager.

The Houston based company branches out with vehicles in every state (except Hawaii) as well as Mexico and Canada and PV Rental’s customers range from the local small businessman or local mover to the top Fortune 100 Companies!

Odis Peavy says, “With our long history of experience in the Rental and Leasing industry we are poised to professionally serve rental needs.” This is something that Odis Peavy tries to convey every day in his actions. He knows most of his customers by name and works to ensure that every customer gets exactly what they need.

Rusty Rush, president & CEO of Rush Enterprises, couldn’t resist his own jab at Ellis, poking fun at the reliability Hino trucks have shown since their debut. “That’s one of our problems, we can’t get enough parts and service business off your trucks,” Rush commented.

“It’s been fun, enjoyable and we want to continue the good relationship we’ve had,” Peavy added.

Rush Truck Centers celebrated its 45th anniversary on March 3. With more than 50 centers in 11 states, Rush Truck Centers accounts for about 17% of Hino truck sales nationwide. The Houston dealership covers 13 acres, 100,000 sq. ft. with 72 service bays and over $6 million in parts inventory.

Free of charge! And with that, Odis Peavy, president of Houston-based PV Rentals, accepted the key to the 1,000th Hino medium-duty truck sold by Rush

Truck Centers of Houston.

Rush Enterprises founder and chairman Marvin Rush, in keeping with the light-hearted celebration told Peavy, a longtime Rush customer, that, yes, the keys were free.

PV Rentals has purchased about 100 Hino trucks from Rush over the past five years, accounting for nearly 10% of Hino sales for the dealership. “And I haven’t had to use your service, which I appreciate,” Peavy said during his remarks at the celebration.

At the event, Hino recognized the Rush Truck Centers of Houston with its Sales Leadership Award. During the presentation, Glenn Ellis, Vice President, Marketing and Dealer Operations for Hino Motors Sales, said the Houston dealership has sold more Hino trucks in the past five years than any other U.S. dealership. Rush began selling Hino trucks in 2004 with medium-duty trucks representing about 25% of their business.

“What we see here is a partnership between an OEM and dealership, a level of trust, and that is what we are celebrating here today,” Ellis said. Hino introduced its conventional Class 4-7 medium-duty truck line in the U.S. in 2004. At the same time, Rush became a Hino dealer.

“At the time, we had 84 dealers in the U.S. and they focused on the cab-over truck,” Ellis said. “But we knew we needed to expand the dealer base to meet the aggressive sales goals we had. We recognized that Rush would represent our products in the Hino tradition.”

Features / ProductsWhen will Hino offer a 285HP, 300HP, 330HP, or 350 HP? We are still evaluating when to offer a high horsepower engine option; however at this time we are not expecting this until the 2013MY at the earliest.

Does Hino plan to offer a 10 speed transmission? Not at this time.

Are there any plans to offer a wide ratio Allison 3000 RDS series transmission? No plans to offer as HMM has not engineered it into the 2011MY product yet.

When will Hino offer a crew cab? We are continuing to work on a cost effective solution to offering a crew cab. Our goal is to offer this at some point in 2010.

Is there a plan to make the extended cab price more competitive? We continue to work with our suppliers on the cost competitiveness of our extended cab and we will pass along any cost reductions we are able to realize.

Does Hino plan to offer 260 HP on the 268? We are currently evaluating the potential size of this market.

When will we get a 35,000 GVW rating? Unfortunately, there are no plans to offer this feature.

Will Hino offer a 29,000 GVW rating on the 268? The 268 model brakes are not rated to 29K and we would not be able to offer this rating.

Are there any plans to increase the power for the 238 to 268’s? No plans at this time.

When will Hino have different alternator options? We are working on adding some post production options to change alternators. Please contact Hino Logistics to discuss the options you are interested in.

Does Hino plan to offer heavier front axles (14k, 16k, 18k)? Currently, there are no plans to offer this feature.

Will Hino offer a front frame extension? We are still developing the timing, but anticipate it to be available on the 2011MY. The extension will be 24” integral frame with a stationary grille.

When will Hino offer front PTO? There are currently no plans in place to offer this.

When will we get exterior grab handles and other items to make the Hino NFPA compliant? We are working with Fontaine Modification on offering exterior grab handles for specific deals, such as we have done with the State of WV snow plow trucks. Please contact

Hino Logistics to discuss the specifics of the deal you are considering.

When will Hino have roll stability and/or air bags available? There are no plans at this time to offer these features.

When will Hino get snow plow wiring? We have offered this type of required wiring on the State of WV snow plow trucks by working with Fontaine Modification. Please contact Hino Logistics to discuss the specifics of the deal you are considering.

When will we get a factory option to have switches installed with wiring for PTO, and other body related items? We have offered some of these options through our partner, Fontaine Modification. Please contact Hino Logistics to discuss the specifics of the deal you are considering.

Will Hino offer a front drive axle? We are currently conducting a feasibility study on this.

Will Hino allow Biodiesel B20 fuel in its engines? Currently B5 is allowed in our 2008MY – 2010MY trucks. The 2011MY trucks are under additional study and validation for using up to B20, however we have no approval at this time other than a B5 rating.

When will Hino have a tandem axle chassis? We believe to compete in the tandem market and provide our expected level of customer satisfaction, we need additional horsepower, which is in the plans, but the exact time frame has not yet been defined.

Is there any chance Hino will revise the shifter and console to allow a full size bench seat? We are looking to offer a dash mounted shift pad.

Ordering / ProductionIs there an ordering option to delete the CD player, the air conditioning, and the tilt? In some cases for specific deals, we are able to offer a delete option on some components. Please contact Hino Logistics to discuss the details of the deal you are considering.

When will Hino offer factory paint options other than white, red, black, or Penske yellow - Base Coat/Clear Coat? We continue to evaluate the level of demand for paint options and although we do not have sufficient volume to justify internally we are working with outside vendors to offer a competitive alternative.

When will Hino cab-over trucks be available to sell? The new class 4 and 5 cab-overs will start to show up in the

~ continued on next page

U.S. as 2012MY trucks. We anticipate dealers being able to order the cab-over in the early part of 2011. The cab-over hybrid version will be available roughly 6 months later.

Will pricing for the cab-over be significantly lower than Isuzu allowing us to push our new product out? Our cab-over will be priced competitively and offer the best value for the money.

MiscellaneousWhat is the 2011MY OBD and what does it do? OBD stands for On Board Diagnostics. It performs two monitoring functions: 1) Monitoring set thresholds (emissions levels like NOx, PM, HC, EGR levels, etc.) 2) Monitoring system functions (Turbo, fuel system, EGR cooler, etc).

What is the difference between Full OBD as Hino has and what others offer? Full OBD monitors both

thresholds and functions. Our competitors are only applying Engine Manufacturer Diagnostics (EMD), which only monitors the engine functions.

Our Hino warranty shows Time / Mileage as factors that complete the warranty, but does it also clock hours as a factor? We currently have a published clock hours stipulation for the federal emission coverage on our truck, which is stated 5 years/100,000 miles or 3,000 hours. We have requested additional clock hours parameters for our entire warranty offering from Hino Motors Limited, and await their response.

Thank you for your questions and interest in Hino Trucks. If you have a question, please e-mail it to Abbey Ewald at [email protected].

Parts Purchases Reach New Heights

For the first time in Hino’s 25 year U.S. presence, a Hino Trucks dealership has achieved $1 million in parts purchases. Frank’s Truck Center in Lyndhurst, NJ was acknowledged for this 2009FY

accomplishment during a luncheon held in their honor this past April.

During the luncheon, Frank Pezolla, Jr., President of Frank’s said, “This achievement was made possible by our three departments, truck sales, service and parts, working together over the years to promote the Hino brand. Their commitment to customer satisfaction helps them to achieve high levels of performance in all aspects of our business.”

Since 1930, Frank’s has been serving the truck industry with integrity and honesty. Family owned and operated for almost 80 years, their modern facilities include 30 service bays manned by expert trained technicians, one stop shopping - from cars to tractors and a huge warehouse facility with expert staff to get parts shipped anywhere in the world from Brooklyn to Siberia!

Randy Feder, Hino Vice President, Parts Operation commented on Frank’s achievement, “Since becoming a Hino dealer in 1985, Frank’s has been an important addition to the Hino Team. Frank’s supports the Hino brand in parts, sales and service, surpassing their Hino parts and truck sales objectives in 2009. Frank’s success is a great example of what is achievable with Hino when dealer partners put their resources behind the brand. Looking back over the past five years, Frank’s has consistently been one of the top five parts sales leaders. We look forward to working with Frank’s and the entire dealer body to achieve even higher performance marks as Hino continues to offer exciting new products and programs in 2010.”

Thank you to the entire team at Frank’s for their continued support and remarkable achievement!
