HIMGIRI VOICE YEAR 2 ISSUE 3 OCTOBER 2018 For Internal Circulation Only | Not for Sale Himgiri Zee University organized Freshersparty Parichay-2018for welcoming students enrolled in various courses of the University in the new academic session. With Indian traditions of Lamp lighting ceremony and prayer of Lord Ganesha, Vice Chancellor Prof. Rakesh Ranjan inaugurated the event. In his inaugural speech, Prof. Ranjan welcomed all the students. He encouraged students to enhance their technical skills and learn professional etiquettes. He also asked students to maintain cleanliness in and around them. He also asked students to enter in new ventures, new experiments and new horizons. New students participated in cultural activities including Garhwali, North-Eastern folk dances, solo dance, solo singing and skits. The main attraction of the day was the Fashion Showfor new students. The theme for the fashion show was – breaking stereotype. On the occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr. Rakesh Ranjan appreciated the efforts put in by students, faculty coordinators and organizing team to make the event successful. Registrar Dr. B.K. Ambasta, Chief Finance Officer Anter Deep Singh, Senior Administrative Officer Vishnu Mathur were present on the occasion along with all department heads and faculty members. Event was made successful by Ms. Suchita Gera, Mr. Rakesh Arya, Ms. Ankita Uniyal, Ms. Priyanka Goswami and Ms. Megha. To inculcate a feeling of responsibility towards democracy and to understand its functioning, Youth parliament was organized at Himgiri Zee University. In the session, the students who participated as young parliamentarians passed a bill for women and child development. Prof. Rakesh Ranjan, Vice Chancellor inaugurated the program with lighting of lamp ceremony. In his inaugural addressed, he emphasized on the importance of awareness regarding the Constitution of India and how it is significant for the youth to understand about the functioning of democracy and Parliament of India. He called upon everyone to respect the Constitution and help in maintaining law and order in the country. Rohit Suryavanshi of Management department played the role of the Prime Minister, whereas Sushma Tripathi of Mass Communication ZEE VARSITY ORGANIZED YOUTH PARLIAMENT department adorned the robes of leader of opposition. During the proceedings of the house, the opposition brought no confidence motion against the government. The government was successful in proving its majority on the floor of the house. For the audience it was a good opportunity to understand that how a bill is laid in the Parliament and what procedures it has to go through before becoming an Act. On the occasion, Registrar Dr. B. Workshop on “PREFABRICATION” in

Hindustan Prefab Limited, Delhi

On October 26, 2018, the students of 2nd, 3rd and 4th year accompanied

by two faculty members of the School of Planning & Architecture, Ar.

Ambika Prasad Gupta and Ar. Jyoti Pal visited HPL to attend a workshop

on methods and materials of prefabrication. Hindustan Prefab Limited

(HPL), one of the oldest CPSEs, that functions under the administrative

control of the Ministry of Housing & Urban affairs, is the Pioneer of

Prefab technology in India. HPL was established in 1948, for meeting the

housing needs of people.

The workshop started with a presentation outlaying the precincts of

prefabrication and various materials used for prefabrication by Mr. Rajesh

Goel – the head of the organization, followed by a detail workshop on the

methods of prefabrication and its installation by the senior architect Ar.

Rakesh Shukla and Mr. Naresh Sharna. The session was followed by a

visit to the HPL campus, showing various structures in prefabrication and

outlining the details of construction techniques and joinery details. The

session ended with certificate distribution to the students by Mr. Rajesh

Goel. It was a fruitful and a meaningful learning experience for the

students and faculty members. Every student attended the workshop with

full zeal and enthusiasm.

Department of Management organized an Industrial tour for final year

students of BCom, BBA, MBA courses from October 20 - 25. In this

tour, students visited ACC Concrete Plant, Kundaim Industrial Estate,

Goa on October 23. Mr. Parshuram (Production Manager) of the plant

showed the different processes of concrete manufacturing to students

and faculty members. Students also visited laboratory where quality the

cement is tested and centralized control room of the plant, which

records all the process movements in manufacturing. Students were

delighted to meet the staff, engineers, supervisors and administration

staff deployed at the plant. Students got a good exposure after visiting

country’s best cement manufacturer.

Apart from the industrial visit, students and faculty members also went

for excursion. They visited Baga Beach, Calangute Beach, Fort

Aquada, Siqueria Beach, Dona Paula, Miramar Beach located at North

and South Goa. Students were also exposed to different water sports

and Sun set cruise Paradise from Panaji Jetty to the Arabian Sea where

they enjoyed different folk dances and songs. Industrial tour was

successfully coordinated by Dr. Parikshit Kala, Head of the

department, Ms. Suchita Kohli, Dr. Jai Jayant and Ms. Abha Sharma.

Mr. Mukesh C. Verma, Research Scholar of Prof. Rakesh Ranjan

presented a research paper titled “New Regulatory Tariff Structure for Green

Energy and Electric Vehicles in India” in International Conference on New

Technological Opportunities in Networking & Sciences (NEWTONS-18) at

Seemant Institute of Technology, Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. This paper was

published in Scopus indexed journal - International Journal of Engineering

& Technology (Vol 7, No 3.12 (2018), Special Issue 12).

Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Research Scholar of Prof. Rakesh Ranjan

presented a research paper titled “Role of Energy Efficiency and

Conservation including Demand Side Management for Sustainable

Development in India” in International Conference on New Technological

Opportunities in Networking & Sciences (NEWTONS-18) at Seemant

Institute of Technology, Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. This paper was published

in Scopus indexed journal - International Journal of Engineering &

Technology (Vol 7, Special Issue 12).

Dr. Parikshit Kala, Head Depar tment of Management attended 7th

Uttarakhand Investor Summit as a Delegate on 7th October at Rajeev

Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Raipur, Dehradun.

Mr. Pratibha Verma, Research Scholar of Dr. Parikshit Kala

presented a research paper titled “Review of Competitive Tariff vs

Cost plus Tariff for Power Generation” in 7th National Conference on

Implications of Management Theories on Literature, Education,

Social Science and Cultural Issues at Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidya-

laya, Haridwar on September 30, 2018.

Mr. Ashish Dhyani presented a research paper titled “Role of

communication and soft skills to enhance tourism through customer

satisfaction: an empirical study on employees in selected hotels of

Mussoorie, Uttarakhand,” in 9th Indian Hospitality Congress-Food

Culture & Tourism Conference, 2018 held in Dev Sanskriti Vishwav-

idhyalaya, Haridwar. This paper was also published in edited book

“Food Culture and Tourism of India” (ISBN - 978-81-933916-1-7).

Mr. Mukesh C. Verma, Research Scholar , Depar tment of

Engineering was felicitated by Securities and Exchange Board of

India (SEBI) on September 9, at New Delhi for doing excellent work

in Financial Literacy Mission.

Himgiri Zee University celebrated ‘Mahatama Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.

On the occasion, University showed a documentary on ‘Thoughts of

Mahatama Gandhi’. This was followed by Open Discussion on

‘Implementation of Gandhi’s thoughts in current scenario’. Students were

motivated to adopt the philosophy of Mahatama Gandhi in their lives. This

session was attended by University officials, Heads of various departments,

Faculty members and students.
