Two visiting Kiwi golfers on a globetrotting tour took a swing at Hilton Head Island. Attorneys Michael Goldstein and Jamie Patton are traveling around the world on a quest to play 18 holes of golf everyday in 2010.

Last month, on day 158 of their journey, the duo played Hilton Head Island with a formidable, fun challenge: play 18 holes on 18 different courses on Hilton Head Island in just one day - a feat very unique to our area because of the proximity of so many courses.

Michael and Jamie had tee times to play one signature hole at each course throughout the day, being transported

by chamber staff and Ryan Thompson of the Heritage Golf Collection, and finishing on the iconic Harbour Town Golf Links’ world-famous hole #18. The golfers are raising money while they travel for First Tee, an international golf charity that reaches disadvantaged children.

Special thanks to the Heritage Golf Collection, The Sea Pines Resort, Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, Hilton Head National, Country Club of Hilton Head and Golden Bear at Indigo Run for helping the chamber and the visiting golfers finish their feat.

The chamber’s Visitor and Convention Bureau has won its twelfth consecutive Pinnacle Award from the readers of Successful Meetings magazine.

The award is given to visitor & convention bureaus, hotels and

conference centers for hospitality excellence. The chamber was recognized by meeting planners for an outstanding job in servicing meetings, incentive travel programs, trade shows and conventions during the previous year.

“We are delighted to have our sales team recognized as the best-of-the-best,” Bill Miles, president and CEO of the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce and Visitor and Convention Bureau said.

Pinnacle Award winners will be listed in the Pinnacle Registry, which will be published and mailed to 70,000 meeting planners along with the regular August issue of Successful Meetings.

Whether you’re building a new house or renovating an existing home,

clean burning natural gas is your environmentally friendly energy

choice. Natural gas appliances not only make everyday life better,

they’re cost-effective to operate, generally last longer and require

little maintenance. In addition to the actual environmental benefits

of lower emissions, plus high-energy efficiency, more than 80% of

the natural gas used in the U.S. is domestically produced.

A home with natural gas reduces your impact on the environment

without sacrificing comfort and convenience. If you want to make

your home a little greener, while enjoying the comforts of home,

ask for natural gas. To learn more, call Parks Moss at 843-815-8808

or Melanie Bullman at 843-815-8818.
