ACE Plant return to Hillhead with two newproducts on display and demonstration. Firstis the company’s versatile new mobile dust-suppression unit, Dust Fighter, which features

a powerful electric fan that projects a finemistup to 60m. Key features include an integralgenerator, a 2,000-litre water reservoir and360º oscillation and remote control functions.

Also making its debut onthe stand will be ACEPlant’s newcommunications towerdeveloped for use onremote or sensitive sites,or for the supervision oflone workers. The all-in-one, self-contained unitprovides tower lights,CCTV, a PA system andWi-Fi capabilities.

Aggregate Processing Solutions will belaunching their APS-100AT washing system.Developed for use in the quarrying, recyclingand remediation industries, key features of thewashing plant include: a PLC control unit withan onboard control panel; a high-efficiency,extreme-duty linear multi-deck screen withAtri-Jet configuration to ensure completecleanliness of the final product; a Trio coarsematerial washer; and 40% less water usagethan current standard washing systems.

Hillhead 2010 will provide the Europeanlaunch pad for a newmotorized version of theDodge torque-arm shaft-mounted speedreducer from Baldor. The Dodge MotorizedTorque-Arm II (MTA) is a right-angle gearboxwith an IEC-flangedmotor interface, specifiedfor use with two-pole or four-pole motors. Achoice of 12 helical gear reduction ratios andthree case sizes allows the unit to deliver awide range of speed reductions with highefficiencies of up to around 95%.

In just over a month’s time, Tarmac’s Hillhead Quarry, nearBuxton, Derbyshire, will once again come alivewith the sightsand sounds of theworld’s biggest working quarry equipment

demonstration show, which takes place from 22–24 June.Despite the effects of the recent recession, more than 400 UKand international suppliers of plant, equipment, materials andservices will once again be in attendance, many of themusing the show as a platform for the launch of their latestproducts and offerings. The following eight-page previewprovides a brief glimpse of just some of the many newproducts, systems and services that visitors to the show willbe able to see on display for the very first time.

Once again Bell Equipment will beshowcasing their latest ranges of mobileplant, including the E-series wheel loadersand the MkVI D-series articulateddumptrucks, while the UK armof the companywill announce the launch of Bell Assure – apackage of combined products and services,designed to provide customers with flexibilityof choice to allow them to run their fleet moreefficiently.

Several new items of equipment will beexhibited by Benninghoven, including theRJOEG4-FU fuel-saving burner. Also on showwill be the fully reconditioned typeRJO4burner,the latest control panels supplied by EMEXControl Systemsand the company’s newuser-friendly plant computer control system, whichwill be demonstrated on the stand.

Brendon Powerwasherswill be launchingthe HWBBW30KLN+ES, one of four new hot-water, high-pressure, fully autonomousbowser washers available in trailer or skid-mounted versions. The HWBBW range isoffered with maximum pressures of 238 baror 340 bar and a flow rate of 12.5 litres/min.Engine options include Yanmar low-noisediesels and Honda petrol engines, includingthe iGX440 with automatic throttle control forquieter operation and reduced fuelconsumption.

Britax PMG, specialists in vehicle safetyequipment, will be introducing the newL14.100 series rear combination lamp,designed to provide an easy to fit, quality LEDlighting solution onmost types of constructionmachinery. The high-power LED modulesoffer amber, red, clear, green and blueoptions for reverse, seat-belt fitment andgeneral warnings.

CGS Tyres UK (formerly Mitas UK Ltd)will be exhibiting their brand new Mitasearthmover (all steel) radial tyre range for thefirst time in the UK. The tyres feature ahexagonal bead for easy fitment, lower rollingresistance, deeper tread, superior driving

comfort andhigher traction.

Case will beexhibiting anddemonstratingproducts fromacross their fullproduct range,i n c l u d i n gseveral newmachines ondisplay for thefirst time, suchas theC X 2 1 0 B M Hexcavator andthe 410 and 440models fromtheir skid-steerloader line-up.The company will also be showing theirlatest wheel loaders, including the largestmodel in the Case range, the 1221E, in thedemonstration area, as well as the 721EXT,821EXR and 921E on static display.

A wide range of new products fromConSpare UK will be making their debut atHillhead. Among the exhibits on the stand willbe: a Teka TDZ 3000 twin-shaft mixer; aWalter high-pressuremixer washout system;a Hydroniz HydoMix VII sensor; a Hawiflextruckmixer loading system; BFM-fitting dust-tight weigh hopper connection; a HopperFixweigh hopper vent; and ExtraChrome mixerwear plates.

Dust-monitoring consultants DustScanwill be showcasing their new DS100D, acombined dust settlement and directionaldust-monitoring system that allows themassand coverage of settled dust to be measuredand helps assess where the dust has comefrom. The company will also be promotinggeochemical dust fingerprinting andmappingservices, along with new microscopicdetection methods to support forensicinvestigations of industrial dust.

Earthmover Tyreswill be exhibiting, for thetime in the UK, the Tire Monitor System, awireless tyre pressure gauge andmonitoringsystem developed for large off-road vehicles.Designed and supplied by AM Bromley, acompany formed in 1997 by engineers whoworked on the early concepts of tyre pressuremonitoring systems, TMS provides tyrepressure and temperature data to allow tyresto be maintained for optimal performance,reducing downtime and increasingproductivity.

Endecotts will be showing the latestaddition to their range of sieve shakers, the

D450, which will be on display together withthe air sizer and new high-performanceSW200 digital shaker.

Euroflo FluidHandlingwill be exhibiting thenewly released Bravo range of heavy-dutyslurry pumps from Grindex. These unitsrange in size from 4.7kW up to 70kW and havewear partsmanufactured in 26% chrome ironfor maximum wear resistance. Another newproduct making its debut at the show will bethe GrindexMaster SH pump, which is capableof lifting up to 80m.

As usual, Flexco will be exhibiting acomprehensive range of productivityenhancing equipment for belt conveyors.New products on show will include: DRXimpact beds; Flexco BR rivet solid platesystem; electric belt cutter; and Flex-LagWeld-On rubber pulley lagging. The DRXimpact beds have been designed to delivermaximum protection to a conveyor belt,featuring ‘exclusive velocity reductiontechnology’ to reduce reaction forces and‘slide-out service’ for fast, safe maintenance.The BR rivet solid plate system isrecommended for themost demanding high-tension applications in limestone, crushedrock, sand and gravel, hard rock mining andcement.

With sustainability now a key issue for thequarrying industry, Fuchs Lubricants willbe introducing an environmentally friendlylubricant pack – Bag in Box. The new productcomes in a 100% recyclable outer case andwith 75% less plasticto dispose of(compared to rigidplastic packaging),significantly reducesdisposal costs. It alsofeatures a highlyefficient containerwith a collapsinginner bag ensuringcomplete emptyingwithout air ingress.

As well asexhibiting their rangeof high-qualitybunded fuel-storageequipment, FuelProofwill be showinga new line ofpressure-washerbowsers. Also on

display will be the company’s new range ofbulk storage tanks with high-flow dispensingsystems, suitable for large construction andhaulage fleets where time and efficiency arekey.

Taking centre stage on theHazemag standwill be the new AP-KV sand impactor,designed to produce high-quality, uniformlysized sand and chippings at capacities up to120 tonnes/h. A key feature of the AP-KV is thereversible rotor, which allows rotationdirection to be changed to ensure that blow-bar striking edges are fully utilized (rotors canbe supplied with either two or four blowbars). The completely redesigned impactorhas four generously sized doors providing fullaccess to internals, while blow bars are nowinserted laterally to permit quick and easyturning or replacement, and impact apronshave a push-button hydraulic system.

The system is said to bealmost maintenance free, thanks to thetungsten carbide tipped cleaning blades,which provide highly efficient cleaning andlong life, with no adjustment required until theblades have worn.

Responding to customer demand for morepowerful machines, Invicta Vibratorswill beshowcasing their new BL80-230/6 rotaryelectric vibrator. This completely newdesigned six-pole vibrator, rated at 12.5kW(23,000kgf) output, is the largest evermanufactured by the company. Designscurrently available in the BL80 range includethe four-pole BL80-200/4 and the six-poleBL80-205/6 models.

At the time of writing, details of the JCBmachinery line-up for Hillhead 2010 werebeing kept under wraps, but the companyrecently confirmed that it would be ‘doubling’its stand space in order to showcase an evenwider array of new and improved machines.Further details will be posted on the Hillhead2010 website as they become available.

JR Technical Services (JRTS) will beexhibiting two new non-nuclear densitymeters (from TransTech Systems Inc) forasphalt and engineered soils. The latest PQI380 model for asphalt advances the currenttechnology to a level that will allow the userto work in wet conditions and use the gaugeon existing asphalt surfaces, while the SDG200 for engineered soils incorporatesadvances in electro-magnetic impedancetechnology and uses a touch-screen interface.There will be a demonstration area at theshow for customers to use the gauges.

Hillhead 2010 will see KVM Internationaldisplay their new energy-saving ‘green’production system. The system consists offour temperature probes fitted in the dryingdrum that send signals, via a wirelesstransmitter, to a receiver. The receiver thentransmits a signal to the control systemwhere four displays show the temperature ofeach probe. By combining several process

parameters with these temperatures, it ispossible to regulate the burner at an optimumlevel, reducing energy consumption andeliminating waste.

Kayasandwill be promoting their range ofprocessing equipment, all of which is new tothe European market. The V7 dry sand-manufacturing plant, for example,reprocesses surplus crusher dust to make aconsistent, evenly graded, well shaped sandwith a tight control over the filler content.Meanwhile, the RC7, a derivation of the V7plant, is designed to reprocesses crushedconcrete. Concrete is re-crushed three timesthrough the plant tomake both coarse and fineaggregates capable of being re-used in high-strength concrete.

Among the exhibits on theKubota standwillbe the new reduced-tail-swing and tight-tail-swing excavators in the 4-6-tonnes class,featuring larger deluxe cabins, a new direct-injection engine, auto idling and auto travelshift.

Making its debut on the M G Industriesstand will be the Cen-Trax conveyor trackersystem, which works on both single- and bi-directional conveyors. The unit is constantlyself-adjusting, has no external guide rollersand comes in two versions for both the top andreturn strands of the conveyor. Also newfrom the company will be the Spill-Ex skirtingsystem, which uses individual rubbersegments and is easy to adjust in excessivewear areas without the need to change the fulllength.

New products on the Martin Engineeringstand will include the company’s Multiportrange of air cannons, which have beendesigned to simplify the installation andmaintenance of air blasters by having acentral air receiver that diverts the flow ofhigh-force air through multiple dischargenozzles.

feeder, 16ft x 5ft screenbox, 1.6m wide tailconveyor and hydraulically operated foldingside conveyors. Also on display will be theMaximus 512 tracked screen, designed for usein the aggregates and recycling industries.Powered by a 100hp Tier III Cat C4.4 engine,the machine is equipped with a 12ft x 5ft high-powered, heavy-duty, two-bearing screenbox.The unit can be fed by wheel loader, excavatoror directly from a crusher circuit, thanks to itsoptional crusher chute.

MMeeaassuurreemmeenntt DDeevviicceess LLttdd ((MMDDLL)),specialists in laser measurement technologyand positioning/navigation systems, will beshowcasing their latest Dynascan system – the

first of a new generation of portable andaffordable Lidar systems. The unit weighs lessthan 25 lbs and can be easily mounted on avehicle.

MMeettssoo MMiinneerraallss will be presenting theirnewly developed track-mounted LokotrackLT110C primary crusher. Powered by a low-emission 310kW Cat C13 engine and weighing58 tonnes, the compact machine is builtaround the proven Nordberg C10 jaw crusher,which has a feed opening of 1,100mm x850mm. Depending on the feed systemselected, the LT110C can be equipped with astandard 6m3 feed hopper or an optional 9m3

version. Metso’s IC500 intelligent controlsystem is fitted as standard on the LT110C.The compact machine measures 15.6m inlength, 3.0m in width and 3.85m in height forease of transportation between sites.

Batch-heater specialists MMiixxllaannccee will beshowing their newly developed igniterassembly for conical-flame burners. The

device provides optimum power usage andenhanced environmental impact by providingignition on demand. Also on show will be a 5-tonne batch-heater barrel which incorporatesa ‘hibernation mode’ and other ‘saveinitiatives’. New to the UK market will be the LandfillGrade system from OOnnGGrraaddee. The system hasbeen developed to improve the efficiency oflandfill sites by optimizing compaction levelsand providing real-time information for sitemanagers.

The company will also belaunching a new range of dynamic weighingequipment, including the BT lorry/trainloading scale, which has the ability to connectto management systems and is Board of Tradeapproved for vehicle loading.

Co-exhibiting with parent companyConSpare, first-time exhibitors PPrrooSSppaarreewill be launching their new EasiFix abrasion-resistant lining, which cushions impacts andis quick, safe and inexpensive to install.

PPuullssaarr MMeeaassuurriinngg SSyysstteemmsswill be showingfor the first time at Hillhead the TruPulse 360Bhand-held laser rangefinder from LaserTechnology Inc (LTI). Basedon the company’s proven 9-, 13- and 16-litrepower units, the latest range features theScania Engine Management System, XPI(extra-high-pressure injection) and SCR(selective catalytic reduction). The 9-litreengine has a power output ranging from202–294kW (275–400hp), while the 13-litre unithas an output from 257–368kW (350–500hp)and the 16-litre engine has an output between404–515kW (550–700hp).

SSppiillllaarrdd SSaaffeettyy SSyysstteemmss, who have beenproviding mobile plant safety solutions to thequarrying industry for over 17 years, will belaunching their new range of Safe Stepretractable personnel access systems, whichwill be installed and demonstrated on anexcavator. Also making its debut will be thenew VCAS360, which Spillard describe as the

most technologically advanced 360° proximitydetection system available.

SStteelleexx CCoonnssttrruuccttiioonn EEqquuiippmmeenntt,manufacturers of the Hercules range ofheavy-duty trommels, will be launching theirlatest road-going trommel. Designed forquick and east set up on site, the HT182Mfeatures a 42-tonne capacity feed hopper anda 1.8m diameter x 9.8m long barrel, and hasa capacity of up to 500 tonnes/h.

The new KAB 600 series of high-performance seats will be on display on theTTEEKK SSeeaattiinngg stand. Available in a two-toneorange and grey fabric, the 600-series seatsfeature a modular design to allowinterchangeability with air or mechanicalsuspensions, providing high levels of comfortand safety for operators of constructionvehicles.

TTeemmaa MMaacchhiinneerryy will be exhibiting a wideselection of machinery, including their newmobile Liwell screening unit. Developed inGermany more than 40 years ago, Liwelltechnology offers effective screening of sticky,moist and abrasive materials. The new mobileconcept incorporates a hopper, a single

screen and a hinged stockpile conveyor,which can be folded for transport.

TTeerreexx FFiinnllaayy will be displaying no fewer than10 tracked mobile crushing, screening andwashing machines at this year’s show. Amongthem will be the brand new J-1480 jawcrusher and the C-1550 cone crusher. Both ofthese machines will be working in the

demonstration area and on static display onthe Terex Finlay stand.

At this year’s show TTeessaabbwill be exhibitingtheir new 20ft x 5ft triple-deck tracked screenand their new closed-circuit asphalt recyclingimpactor, which has the ability to produce asingle-size product from one machine. Thwaites will also bepromoting their smallest product to date – theMicro 300 compact dumper – which will beshown in standard form as well as withoptional floatation wheels and skip extensions.

TTooppccoonn will be showcasing their latestrange of machine control products and solutions for the construction market,including a new state-of-the-art hardwareplatform for business owners and projectsupervisors and the latest-generation 3DMC2system, which utilizes inertial and gyroscopetechnology to allow fine grading down to millimetre-level accuracy withunprecedented speed.

Concrete equipment specialists UUttrraannaazzzz willbe using the show to launch their versatilemobile volumetric concrete mixer (MVBP).The Hydromix MVBP features a special ‘roll-on roll-off’ system that provides multiplemounting options. The unit works completelyautonomously and is equipped with its ownengine, hydraulic pumps, water-system andloading/off-loading legs. It utilizes a highlyaccurate computer-controlled weighing systemto produce accurate concrete mixes, allowingthe user to achieve QSRMC accreditation.

New for Hillhead 2010 will be the Nivobob4000 plumb-bob system, which has beendeveloped specifically for the quarrying andcement industries. According to itsmanufacturers, point and continuous levelcontrol instrument specialists UUWWTT ((UUKK)), theunit is easy to install and has been designedto operate as a high-quality, low-costcontinuous level monitoring system withreduced maintenance.
