ApplicationCleansethewoundinaccordancewithnormalprocedures.Selectappropriatedressingsize.Prepareandcleantheskinsurroundingthewoundareaandremoveexcessmoisture.Anyexcesshairshouldbeclippedtoensurecloseapproximationtothewound.Removeoneoftheprotectorfilmsandanchortheadhesivesideofthedressingtotheskin.

Removetheremainingprotectorfilmandsmooththedressingovertheremainderofthewoundwithoutstretching,ensuringtherearenocreases.Thepadareaofthedressingmustbeadheredacrosstheentiresurfaceofthewound.Thedressingcanbeliftedandrepositionedwithoutlosingitsadherentproperties.

ALLEVYNGentleBordercanbecuttodresswoundsontheheel,elbowsandotherawkwardareas.Alwaysuseacleantechniquewhencuttingthedressing.Ifthedressinghasbeencutensureanyexposedfoamareasarecoveredwithanappropriatefilmdressingtakingcarenottocovertheentiredressing.

Frequency of changeDuringtheearlystagesofwoundmanagementALLEVYNGentleBordershouldbeinspectedaccordingtolocalclinicalprotocol.Wheretheproductisusedoninfectedwoundstheinfectionshouldbeinspectedandtreatedasperlocalclinicalprotocol.Dressingscanbeleftinplaceforupto7days,exceptthesacralareawheredressingscanbeleftinplaceforupto5days,dependingontheconditionofthewoundandthesurroundingskinoruntilexudateisvisibleandapproachestowithin0.5cmoftheedgeofthedressingpad,whicheverissooner.Thedecisionofwhentochangeshouldbedependentuponclinicalassessmentandlocalprotocolsshouldalsobetakenintoconsideration.

RemovalToremoveALLEVYNGentleBorder,liftonecornerofthedressingandslowlypeelbackuntilcompletelyremovedfromthewound.

PrecautionsDonotuseALLEVYNGentleBorderwithoxidisingagentssuchashypochloritesolutions(e.g.EUSOL)orhydrogenperoxide,asthesecanbreakdowntheabsorbentpolyurethanecomponentofthedressing.Ifreddeningorsensitisationoccurdiscontinueuse.ALLEVYNGentleBorderisasingleuseproduct.ALLEVYNGentleBorderHeelmustnotbeusedforpressurereliefindependentlyofpressurerelievingdevices.
