HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2017

(Wednesday)
“Mumbai to Goa Tour”
Educational cum pleasure tour was organised for the students of
Classes IX & X. 17 students accompanied by teacher Ms Devender
Kaur were part of the tour. Students gained new perspective and
built skills for the future through experiential learning and
educational tour. Keeping this in mind DPS Kolar Road organised
six days educational trip to Mumbai – Imagica – Goa for the
students for 9th and 10th from 29th September to 4th October.
The students were taken to film city, Ad labs Imagica and met
Mr Sunil Grover the great stand up comedian. His sense of humour
made the students enjoy very much.
Students headed to Goa on third day. They enjoyed sightseeing
like Saint Bom Jesus Church, Dona Paula, Aquada Fort. Children
enjoyed dancing on the cruise.
The children also
enjoyed water sports at
the Bagan Beach. This
trip gave an insight into
goan culture. They
learnt social skills and
also learnt to handle
themselves
independently.

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated in the honour of the birthday of our
Father of the Nation Mohandas Karam chand Gandhi or Bapuji.
A day with Gandhi was conducted in Castle of dream to make
children realise the role of Gandhi in our lives
It is greatly said –
“Live as if you were to die tomorrow, learn as if you were to
live forever.”
The day started with a Procession by the students with the
teachings of Gandhi Ji.
The students also made a
card in his remembrance and
enjoyed the puppet show too.
Everyone enjoyed the day to
its fullest
4.10.2017 (Wednesday)
If we want real peace in this world we should start educating
children, In order to emphasize the important teachings of our
beloved Mahatma Gandhi, a day with Gandhi was celebrated in
class II with great zeal and vigour. All the children as well as
teachers were dressed up in
white khaki kurtas and
pyjamas .The main
highlights of the
programme were:
1.Cleanlines drive
2. Prabhat Pheri.
3. Charkha Making Activity. Overall the whole atmosphere was
full of joy and enthusiasm.
06.10.17(Friday) The much awaited function, 4th Annual Award Ceremony was
celebrated at DPS Kolar Road Campus hosted by Kachnar house
teachers to felicitate
excellence and exemplary
work of the students.
Awards were conferred to
the students under multiple
categories like Proficiency
Award, Marker Cup, Super
Scholar Trophy, Scholar
Trophy, Star Tie, Star
Badge, Budding Star, CCA, Scholar Badge and Full Attendance.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Shri Alok Sanjar, Member
of Parliament.
The luminaries who graced
the occasion were Shri Hari

Dr Aradhna Verma Incharge of Hindi department attended three
days Hindi Workshop organised by HRDC Delhi Public School”
At DPS Dwarka.
Workshop was on “Utkarsh –
Hindi Language” got commenced
on 10.10.17.
Various sessions in the workshop
enriched the teachers about
enhancing their language skills by
using different methodology.
The Session was indeed enlightening as the workshop provided a
platform to the teachers to share their ideas.

Students of Pre Nursery constructed their small Towers in the
Competition ‘Tower Up
Race’.
In this Competition students
had to make the towers of
paper glasses and the one who
made the first tower was
declared as the winner.
It helped the toddlers to
improve their focus and
Concentration.

“ Mathematical Treasure Hunt”
An Inter House
Mathematical Treasure
Hunt was conducted on
October 10, 2017 for Classes
VI to VIII to enhance their
mathematical Skills. Ms
Seema Shrivastava & Ms
Sheetal Gaur from the
department of mathematics. Four students from each house
participated.
The competition began with an interesting treasure hunt clues and
mind boggling rounds like “Target the Treasure”. There was a
close competition among all the four houses for the treasure.The
questions were mainly on mathematical riddles, mental ability and
daily life problems.

“Your car for future”
“Your car for future” competition was
conducted for the students of Class II to
polish the oratory skills of young
Dipsites.
They describe their future car. It
enhanced their Imaginatory skills and
boosted their confidence.

“Inter House English Skit Competition”
An Inter House English Skit Competition” was conducted by
All the teachers of English Department for the students of Class IV
&V.
A skit is a short dramatic performance with a message to convey.
In order to bring out the acting talent and flair of the students and to
spread the message of family values, Inter house English Skit
Competition was taken up by the students of Class IV & V,
wherein all the four houses participated enthusiastically. The
students acted naturally and perfectly. It was really a visual bliss to
watch the students perform confidently with appropriate props.

Diwali was conducted for
the students & teachers of
Class V at assembly
courtyard.
‘The festival of Diwali
signifies the importance of
Light, in every
individual’s life.’
Deepoutsav- A special
assembly was organised by the students of classV. The festival of
light is celebrated across the globe keeping this in mind the
students displayed a beautiful show on how it is celebrated in
countries like India,Nepal, Indonesia and Malaysia. The day was
full of fun and frolic .the
students also pledged for
safe and green diwali.

Festivals are an
expressive way to
celebrate glorious,
heritage, culture and
traditions. They play an
important role to add
structure to our social
lives and connect us
with our families and
back ground. Diwali is
the most significant
and famous festival of
India . Diwali was celebrated by the tiny –tots of Castle of Dream
enthusiastically.
Joy of sharing was an opportunity for the little ones to learn explore
and share various things with their peers. This was a small effort on
school part to include the value of sharing among our children. In
the due context students of all classes prepared Art and Craft items.
Nursery students made lantern, Pre students – Diya, student of
class-I and II prepared ladoo and Rangoli stensil and they shared
their items among each other and felt the joy of sharing.
14.10.2017 (Saturday)
The E-waste management campaign is initiated by the
government under Swatch Bharat Abhiyan and Digital India
mission in collaboration with all it giants to spread the awareness
regarding E –waste management. As a part of that
campaign computer science dept along with
community service club of
DPS Kolar Road organised
an E-waste collection
drive where parents of class IV onwards
were requested to come forward and
contribute generously the E-waste (discarded
computer monitor, Motherhood ete.) E –waste disposal
boxes were kept outside the school entrance gates on
OH day i.e. on 14.10.2017 for the same. All the
collected E-waste will be sent for recycling .It was a
great effort by the teachers and the students to spread
awareness.

“The Sanskar Tech Fest”
“The Sanskar Tech Fest” organised by Sanskar valley School
Bhopal
Ms Vinita Negi & Ms Nidhi Mowar Singh along with
A team of 16 students from DPS Kolar participated in Sanskar
Valley Tech Fest on 14.10.17. The students participated
enthusiastically and brought laurels to the school in the second
consecutive year. Total 14 schools participated

Wildlife Quiz
Ms. Almas Nasir Incharge. For the Nature Lovers and for those
who love joyride through animal & plant kingdom there is nothing
better than participating wild wisdom quiz.
Ms. Ananya Pariyani & Mr. Rishabh Kothari represented DPS
Kolar at International level of wild wisdom quiz and secured sixth
position in the same.

Awarness and Hindi Speaking
Skills was held at Campion School
Bhopal. The Department of Hindi
attended this stimulating and
Informative Workshop Ms.Anjali
Chhabhara was the Resource Person
of the Workshop.
There were various sessions in the workshop like general
awareness on the subject Hindi ,Poster Making,slogan Writing.
Skit, Quiz Technique etc.

“Poem recitation is a mode of expression, a medium to reflect the
talent of the young ones.”
Rhymes can prove to be instrumental stepping stones for young
children to learn English. This helps them especially in the early
stages of learning the language. Keeping this in mind English
Recitation Competition for Class I was organised on 23rd
October
2017.

Training session of mock parliament at Vidhan Sabha was
conducted. Ms. Rekha Sharma & Ms. Aaradhna verma and
students of classes IX to XI
along with teaching faculty
attended. The two day
training programme on 24th
& 25th
was organised to
prepare them for “Inter
School Youth Parliament”
Competition.
They visited Valabh Bhawan
& Vidhan Sabha where they
interacted like Mr Sudhir Kochar (I.A.S).
They got the details of working of the session. The students and
faculty had an unforgettable experience as they could interact with
delegates.

decorate your milk mug with nail
paint was held on 25.10.2017 in
class II. Children brought their Milk
Mug and Nail Paint.
They made and Painted beautiful
designs on the Mug and satisfied
their creative zeal.

The Department of Computer Science organized an Inter House
Code Hour Competition for the
students of Classes VII to VIII.
Students had design a website on
“tourism”.
All the 12 participants enthusiastically
designed 3 web pages and even learned
new programme concept of html .

Topic “Should Human Cloning Be Legalised In India”
A debate is formal discussion on a particular matter in public
meeting in which opposing arguments are put forward and which
usually ends up with a vote.
It was a good learning experience and a great exposure for the
students.

A three days
Workshop was
conducted on
English Capacity
Building at HRD
Centre DPS
Dwarka Centre 54
Delegates from all
over India
participated in this
workshop.
DPS society organises such workshop for the teachers from time to
time to hone their teaching skills and make teaching and learning
an enriching experience. The purpose of three day workshop was to
make English language for primary classes more productive.
Various sessions in the workshop developing reading and writing
skills along with the use of phonetics was emphasized.
Apart from preparing effective lesson plan, use of theatre as an
effective learning tools and multiple Intelligence theory was
discussed in detail.
The work shop proved to be extremely fruitful with teachers
gaining insight and expanding their knowledge.
