INDIA TO BECOME FASTEST GROWING LARGE ECONOMY IN 2018: REPORT

India will overtake China to be the fastest growing large economy in 2018 and the country's equity market will become the fifth largest in the world, says Sanctum Wealth Management report.  According to a report, when the rest of the world offers low growth and insufficient structural change, India, by contrast, is seen as a reforming economy with the prospect of strong long-term growth. At a time when developed economies are cheering 2-3 per cent growth, India is focused on breaching 7.5 per cent, it said. Moreover, India also benefits from a favourable contrast to other emerging markets. In particular, the fact that China is downshifting to a slower pace of growth. (Source: The Economic Times)

The Cheraman Juma Mosque The Cheraman Juma Mosque is a mosque in Methala, Kodungallur Taluk, Thrissur District in the Indian state of Kerala. Built in 629 AD by Malik Deenar, an Arab propagator of Islam, it is the oldest mosque in India. It is named after contemporary Chera ruler, Cheraman Perumal. The mosque has an ancient oil lamp which always burns and which is believed to be more than a thousand years old. People of all religions bring oil for the lamp as offering. Like most, this mosque allows entry for non-Muslims.  In April 2016, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifted a gold-plated replica of the Cheraman Juma Masjid to Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Before the discovery of America in 1492 AD, India was geographically in the center of world. India traded with East Africa, Europe, Middle East and countries of Southeast Asia. A lot of Arabs use to trade from Indian ports and that’s how Islam came to India within 10 years of its inception. As early as in 629 AD Cheraman Juma Mosque was constructed in Thrissur District of Kerala province by Malik Deenar, an Arab propagator of Islam. In this edition we will give information about oldest mosques in India.
