88,162 tourists arrived on e-tourist visa in January

NEW DELHI, Feb 15:

As many as 88,162 touristsarrived in India on e-tourist visa inJanuary this year as compared to25,023 during the same month lastyear, registering a growth of 252.3per cent.

The United Kingdom contin-ues to occupy top slot, followed bythe US and Russia amongst thecountries availing e-tourist visafacility, an official release said.

Launched on November 27,2014, the e-tourist visa facility iscurrently available for citizens of113 countries arriving at 16 air-ports in India.

The UK topped the list of coun-tries availing e-tourist visa facilitiesin January this year with 25.37 percent, followed by US (15.17 percent), Russian (9.58 per cent),France (6 per cent), Australia (5.25per cent), Germany (4.23 per cent)and Canada (4.10 per cent).(PTI)
