A. Major Functions of Animal Health Directorate

• National Veterinary Authority ( SPS Agreement and WTO)

• Formulate national policies, directives and norms related to animal health & to promote animal welfare.

• Formulate programme to control and eradicate economically important diseases and zoonotic diseases

• Develop emergency preparedness plan to prevent re-emergence of eradicated animal diseases prevent re-emergence of eradicated animal diseases

• Participate in collaborative researches in cooperation with NARC and other related agencies
