To impart quality education in engineering,technology and m a n a g e m e n t a t undergraduate and post-grauate levels, aiming at achieveing the status of best engineering college, thereby cherishing the dreams of the founder chairman and the aspirations of the student's community in the region to b e c o m e w o r l d c l a s s professionals and technocrats.

Mission

“To be an internationally renowned centre for excellence

in technical and management education with value-driven quality standards and to contribute our might in realizing India's dream of becoming economic super power. ”

The Genesis

The sudden demise of a son in a tragic road accident in New Delhi turned the founder chairman Sri Kandula Obul Reddy philosophical and prompted him to establish an engineering college in his native district Cuddapah. He intended to get the best technical education within the reach of rural masses. The College was christened Kandula Sreenivasa Reddy Memorial College of Engineering and was established in 1980 under the stewardship of Kandula Obul Reddy Charities.

The College was started with four branches of study in Bachelor of Technology Degree. In four specializations: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics and Electronics and Communication Engineering. The College has grown tremendously and currently ten courses are offered. All courses are approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The College is affiliated to Jawaharlal Technological University Anantapur, Anantapur.

Department Of Chemical Engineering

AcademicsIndia’s growth is critically hinged on chemical and pharmaceutical

industries. Annually, there are number of chemical engineering jobs

created by these industries of which only 25 are being filled due to

the shortage of chemical engineering graduates. This is one reason

why chemical engineers have traditionally been among the highest

paid professionals in the engineering and science disciplines.

The difference between chemical engineers and other engineers is

that they apply knowledge of chemistry in addition to other engineering

disciplines. Chemical engineers are called “Universal Engineers”

because their scientific and technical mastery is very broad. Chemical

engineers are equipped to work in areas such as Chemicals, Bio-

technology, Pharmaceuticals, Food processing, Energy, Environment,

Consumer products, Electronics, Nanotechnology, Bio-medical

advanced materials and green technologies.

The B.Tech in Chemical engineering is a focused program designed in such a fashion that there is ample scope for students to think beyond the classroom teaching and learn innovative techniques to solve real life problems. In addition, students are involved in significant number of industry projects, where they get a chance to solve problem from industries and interact with their future employer. Under Graduation in chemical engineering at K.S.R.M. College of Engineering (with an intake of 60 sanctioned from the academic year 2013-2014) provides

The course work is specifically designed to give students exposure to new and upcoming fields like Nanotechnology and B i o -Medical

engineering.

The capability for analyzing and optimizing complex systems

An understanding of the importance of safety and sustainability.

In addition K.S.R.M. College of Engineering has partnered with two highly reputed chemical companies – IBC Limited and Viridis Chemicals Limited to give training not only the final year students but also for the students in 2nd and 3rd year as the course work progresses.

The department is endowed with dedicated faculty to impart high quality education to students at all levels. They provide a vibrant and creative learning environment for students.

Chemical engineers are highly employable. They are employed across a wide range of businesses by both large and small companies and also can be self-employed.

Chemical engineers have jobs in research, design, development, manufacturing, optimization, teaching and consulting. Chemical engineers work in laboratories, plants, and offices. They have wide opportunities not only in India but also worldwide (abroad).

Faculty

Careers

The department is actively engaged in research in number of areas.

However, it has put forth a step further to strengthen research activity

in the area of chemical engineering.

K.S.R.M. has also established a Center for Renewable Energy and

Management (CREAM) where advanced Nanotechnology fields are

being researched and explored. The center currently focuses on

developing several Nanotechnology based advanced Emission

catalysts solutions in collaboration with MAN Turbo and Diesel, the

largest marine and truck engine manufacturer in Germany. The

students in the Chemical Engineering department would have their

course work directly tied up with these advanced infrastructure

“Development of mixed metal oxide emissions solutions for NOx control in Diesel Engines”, funded by Department of Science and Technology, NANO-MISSION program, Govt of India (2013)

Current Projects

The main key thrust research areas

1. High efficiency (55 percent ) and low emissions duel fuel engine technology

2. Non-noble metal based mixed metal oxide catalysts for NOx abatement in modern Diesel engines

3. Logistics of fuel availability for sustained use of high efficiency duel fuel engines in different parts of India

4. Control system and electronics architecture design for optimal operation of duel fuel engines

• We impact our college with education system in imparting latest RET based educat ion to under-graduate and PG level courses

• We have collaborations with several OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and Research organizations nationally and internationally that will provide excellent exposure to potential students and faculty involved in research of CREAM’s key thrust areas

CREAM envisions to be a pioneer in providing next generation

solutions for problems that circumvent in exploration, adaptation,

utilization and logistics management of renewable energy

technology (RET)

Our focus is on research and patent technologies that have

immediate impact in advancing industries from using current gen

technology to next generation RET and advance India to be in the

top 3 countries for technology innovation and deployment

Training and Placements

The college has a full-fledged Training and

Placement cell whose primary aim is to

provide all possible help and assistance to

the students in their efforts to find suitable

employment . Th is commitment is

demonstrated by the presence of a full time

Training and Placement Officer

Interaction between engineers and

entrepreneurs is the basis for genesis of this

cell. Since its beginning greater emphasis

has been laid on putting efforts to provide

placement to students. It organizes campus

interviews, provides information on job

opportunities and arranges summer training

for students. The cell is constantly arranging

special lectures from eminent persons of

different fields of specialization to help the

students emerge as Great Technocrats.

The Cell identifies the training needs of

students and designs training modules on

soft skills and software skills to students to

match them with corporate requirements.

The cell also conducts Mock test and mock

interviews to increase rate of success. It

plays key role in counseling and guiding the

students for their successful placement

which is crucial between the stage of

completion of academics and entry into

suitable employment.

Having felt the importance of rapport between institution and industry in the changing scenario of global free market economy, the College has opened a cell namely Institution – Industry Interaction Cell (I IC) for the mutual benefit of both the parties. The cell has actively been functioning by negotiating with and e n t e r i n g i n t o M e m o r a n d u m o f

To establish strong and meaningful linkages between the institution and industry.

To share the expertise and experience.

To achieve excellence in technical education through an attitude of out-reach, partnership and sharing of resources.
