What is "high cholesterol"?
• Cholesterol is a waxy substance that's found in fat(lipids) in your blood.
• You body needs cholesterol to build healthy cells. But if you have high cholesterol, it can increase your risk of getting heart disease.
• You can develop fatty deposits in your blood vessels if you have high cholesterol.
• It will make it difficult for your oxygen-rich blood to flow through your heart and break. And if oxygen rich blood doesn't get to them, you can have a heart attack or a stroke.
How do you get it?
• High cholesterol can be inherited.
• Eating too much saturated fat, ex. breakfast foods, beef, pork, milk, butter, and cheese.
• Crackers, chips, margarine, palm oil, cocoa butter may also have a lot of saturated fat.
• Being overweight can cause high cholesterol.
• Being inactive can cause high cholesterol.
• Smoking can also be a cause too.
• If your cholesterol is higher than 200mg/dL, you have high cholesterol.
How does it affect your diet?
• If you have high cholesterol, you have to limit what type of foods you eat.
• Avoid fatty meals, full fat dairy products, snacks, cake, and processed meats.
Is there a cure?
• Eat healthy and exercise daily!
• Eat more fish instead of other meats, fish should be baked or poached not fried.
• Use olive oil or walnut oil, they're healthier oils.
• Grains like oats and oatmeal are also good at lowering your cholesterol.
• Eating apples, artichokes, garlic, and onions help lower your cholesterol.
• Eating more green vegetables also lower your cholesterol; ex. broccoli, spinach, lettuce, and green beans (low carb. too).
• Drinking fruit juice every morning before breakfast will drastically improve your cholesterol level over time.
What do you have to do with your diet to live with high cholesterol.
• Watch what you eat.
• It's very important to exercise.
• You should jog, walk, run, swim, bike, or do aerobics daily.
• To lose weight and lower your cholesterol, do cardiovascular exercises.
• Don't over work yourself when it comes to exercising though. You want to start off slowly... you then, can gradually increase the intensity level of your workout.
• If you know you have high cholesterol, you can search up healthy low cholesterol meals online.
• You can look up questions about having cholesterol or how to lower your cholesterol.

• For breakfast, you can make homemade Banana Bran Muffins or Egg White Omelet with Tomatoes.
• For a snack, you can make Banana, Strawberry, and Honey Smoothie.
• For lunch, you can make Zucchini Noodles.
• For dinner you can make an Arugula and Goat Cheese Pizza.
