List of high grossing movies:-Paranormal Activity 1,2,3,4-Tooth Fairy-Sinister-Dark Skies -The Purge-Insidious: Chapter 2

Paranormal ActivityMoney used to produce: $15,000

Money made: $193,340,800

A low-budget film is a motion picture shot with little or no funding from a major film studio or private investor. Most independent films are made on low budgets for example

Paranormal Activity had a budget of $15,000 to make. Low budget films often rely on film festivals in order for their films to be promoted and are often created by first time

filmmakers in order to prove their talent before doing bigger productions. The money made is generally lower as well with Paranormal Activity making $193,340,800 and a

high budget film like Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince making $934,416,487.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood PrinceMoney used to produce: $250,000,000

Depending on the genre of the film, the size of the studio or distributor releasing the film, and the time of year that the film will be released, marketing costs may run from $1 million to $20-30 million, or more for a high budget film. Most high budget institutions are American

and based in Hollywood for example Warner Bros, Universal Studios etc.

The obvious and main difference between both of the budget types is the sum of money involved with the production of the film. If there's a high budget for a movie then the money spent of the production on the movie and the actors going towards creating it

will mean that the success of the movie will most probably be higher. An example of this for Harry Potter would be that Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are very well known

actors which could attract the audience to watch the movie before they even know the plot of the movie, whereas the actors from Paranormal Activity are not really known at

all. To have actors of such high quality to part take in your movie it costs a lot, therefore, from the profit of the film the actors will be paid a large sum of money for their presence

within the movie.

‘Blumhouse Production’ usually create films along the genre of horror or thriller, for example Paranormal Activity is categorised as a ‘horror’, the film ‘The Purge’ is in the ‘horror’ genre but can also be crossed as a ‘thriller’. Whereas, ‘Warner Bros.’ usually

creates movies of a wider variety, for example it can range from ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ which is a crime/action or ‘Happy Feet’ which is a animation/comedy, following this, they also produced ‘Sex and The City’ which is a ‘romantic comedy’, all the previous

movies were created by Warner Bros, therefore, this shows the wide variety in which they create which could possibly give them a wider audience.

This is important for when you’re considering the production company for your film so you’re able to know which your most likely audience that may be viewing your movie,

for example if you made a ‘romantic comedy’ you would most likely want this movie to be produced by Warner Bros opposed to Blumhouse Production as ‘Blumhouse

Production’ are more likely to have an audience which like horrors.

Blumhouse Production create more movies which are horrors or thrillers they’re more likely to attract a younger audience, like teenagers, this could be that it gives them that

sense of fear, however, they’re not put directly in the situation which gives them a sense adrenaline. They can also enjoy these genres with friends and is quite a popular genre for

youth due to their obsession with ‘safe danger’

Warner Bros. create a wide variety of movies with quite diverse genres, therefore, they could attract a wide variety of audience, this could help with the promotion of a film as it

allows you to make comparisons between the new movies in which they’ve produced to an older one perhaps.

In a personal opinion, I feel that Warner Bros. would have more success with their movies. They may spend more money on the productions of their movies however they gain more money on the profit too. It also covers most, if not every single popular genre which I think is a good idea as it allows all the family to enjoy this production company as there is almost regular releases of each of the genre, therefore, I think the regularity of the releases helps with the popularity of the company as a whole and due to the wide

variety of genres it allows the audience to compare and enjoy the variety and explore a film in which they may not usually watch.
