TimeWindow
Offset of the window if the slownessof the formation is 40 sec/ft
Offset of the window if the slownessof the formation is 240 sec/ft
For the different slowness values, the part of the first wave will be comparedto the others and a correlation (matching) value will be computed.
Move the window and repeat the process over the fullwaveform

Transmitter has two poles (+, -) whichinduces a bending mode that travels alongthe borehole wall
The borehole flexes in the horizontalplane. This is known as the flexural mode
This flexural mode produces anasymmetric compressional wave in theborehole fluid, which is detected byreceivers sensitive to asymmetric motiononly
At low frequencies (< 2 kHz) it travels atformation Vs
Dispersion correction may be necessaryat higher frequencies

StoneleyWave
Onda Stoneley (Monopolo) The monopole source generates a
pressure pulse that is guided by theborehole wall
It is most efficiently excited at lowfrequencies (< 3 kHz)
This guided wave is called Stoneley ortube wave
Wave motion is axially symmetric It is sensitive to formation shear wave
velocity and travels at a lower velocitythan formation Vs in open hole
It is sensitive to changes in boreholeradius
In cased holes it mainly sees thecasing
It is affected by formation permeability
