“Into our World cometh a DRONE!To which one can apparently PHONE!
They do hover aboutScary, no doubt.
From the future they are no longer on LOAN!”
To tables full of guests, Rotarians, and DRONES, President Bev
welcomed us to the Embassy Suites, Leg II of our destination journey. We welcomed George back to a S.O.! FISH was promised for the Rotary Bonfire II! Kathleen R.-T., our ROD, offered a peaceful moment, the Pledge, and an elegant peek into Rotary Fellowships, Taiwan’s Tea Farms, sister cities, and the wonderful care that pneumonia-stricken spouse David received at the hands of Rotarians and strangers! What a delightful story, as David is thankfully fully recovered!
I think Tom welcomed somebody, but this reporter was distracted by the bright color of his shirt! Lee Ann Cusick was re-membered, in a very complex relationship that involved Pam, Linda, and Jacquie, and perhaps a DRONE! Assistant Manager Brittany of The Embassy Suites gave us a warm welcome. A representative from UCSD International House gave us directions . We are indeed in demand, fellow- Rotarians!
Bev gave us valuable scripting, hopefully to be repeated, to better describe to others what Rotary is!
Fire Marshall Rick Binder, a Man without S’Mores, and resident FFF, announced “Bonfire II”, for this Sunday, same time, same place. Jacquie, Bonnie, and Krishna demonstrated their latest Hip-Hop moves to Louise’s Rap in thanking them for housing the contestants at the last minute! Pam Russell was presented by Louise, the Citation for Meritorius Service to the Rotary Foundation for leading the way for granting and organizing. Another S.O.! Alex announced a career change, in the same sentence as he also announced the Community Service Committee meeting today, of which this Reporter is an outstanding member! Good luck, Alex!!Apparently, Jacquie and Linda are surfer’s wax suppliers to Brett; are they USERS, too? Pete showed a slide of himself in a 1998 fish-lifting contest; Rich (Say it isn’t so, Rich!) Papike announced he made it to 70 years old by never texting ‘I love you” by surprise, to
his bride, Cherrie; David C. announced proudly, that he would be working LESS, because his spouse, would be working MORE! Huh, David? Our beloved AJ, apparently in an audition for The New Blond on FOX TV, did an interview in the wake of the terrible fire on Miramar Road, next door to his establishment! Luck, and great firepersons saved the day, thankfully! I think Will wanted someone to listen to his jokes, and his reknown stand-up repartee for free, it was not clear.
Darryl Anunciado and his company, Action Drones USA, illuminated us about drones, both the positive and negative concerns that we all share. We were treated to our first Field Trip, out to the lobby for a drone demonstration!. The future is here for most, and has way passed me by!
Yours, Reporter Denny
