    FLASI-: We have

    Bob DeVoe organized

    with the

    Grand

    Dellevue

    and

    Chris t ianvi l le . Two

    days

spent s tudy ing th e

    Kord

    with

    classes in

    our

school hal l from early morning unt i l

    night .

From Indiana came Ralph Lemmon, Bob Reeves and Tony Varner, from Mill igan

Dr. Bob Hall and from Cookson

    l i i l l s

    Ralph Gorman.

    Our

    Wayne got

    special

    leave

    from

    c olle ge to

    in te rpre t

    for the group.

    I t

    was such a

    glowing success

that we are prayerfully planning another seminar for June. V^hen we say we'

    we mean a fellowship

    of

    the ministers and

    pasters in

    the Port

    au

    P rin ce a re a

    and the south side

    of

    Hait i .

    Duplicate

    seminars followed in Port

    au

    Prince

    with Cookson Hi l l s

    and

    Stephen Prophe t te .

    At

    the

    same time I l i l l igan Team '8 2 was

    here

    doing a great job.

    Around

    our

    schoo l they

    erected

    a 6

    f t

    high,

    80C

    f t

    chain-link

    fence

    with

    poles

set in concrete. They painted, laid blocks on a new outdoor kitchen and did

    a dozen

    other

    helpful

jobs. This is Milligau's third year with

    us and we

    deeply appreciate

    thei r

    'dedication and help.

But l t s look hack fo r a moment a t December, Our school ch i ld ren had

    t h e i r

    very

    f i r s t Christnas party. They began

    in the morning with

    games and

    reces

    and a t noon had

    a

    lovely

    chicken

    dinner.

    We

    baked

    350 cupcakes, gave them

sweet s, bal loons and a pair of tennis shoes and socks each. Can you

    imagine

    f i t t ing 320

    children

    with

    shoes? Oh,

    Tracy

workec so hard. She deserved her

    t r ip home

    to

    Canada for the holidays. In

    the afternoon

    the

    children

    presented

    a beautiful Christmas program for

    the

parents. ^ e were sc proud of them And

    there were p ri

    In

    our

    I t

    But we

    were

    exci ted

    fo r what

    it

    could mean

    to

the children whose teeth we would f ix and would clean.

    I t arrived

    in

    the city and slept

    silently there,

    then moved to

    the

    country with

    most

    tender care.

    But there

    once

again i t rested so long

    That

    spiders

    But

God heard th e p ra ye rs of

    He

    tools

    He spared not a

    In

barely two days he was ready

    to

    He

    HEALTH BEAUTIFUL HEALTH

    When Christianville

    School began

    our children bore

    the

s am e s ad marks of mal

nutrition a s t ho us an ds of others both far and near in this land of severe poverty.

    Different

    types

    of

    mal-nutrilion

    marked

    the

    little

    bodies

    in

    various

    but

    on e

    main

    factor

    just

    was not enough food

After our school f ee di ng p ro gra m began to

    make

    im pressions on the well

of the children we looked into further ways of bringing health to them.

    Regular visits

V IS IT ING MED ICAL TEAM

    The month of February

    brought

some good helping hands to Christianville

    clinic.

    A

    midwest

    medical

    team from

    the

    Toledo

    Ohio

    a re a c ame

    to

    Haiti

    to

    work

    with

several clinics and we lined up for our

    share

of the good people. Here you see

    Dr Doug

    Lyons

and his wife Brenda R N busy doing and

    learning.

    Yes it was a

    learning trip

    for them

    too as

    they viewed the

    tropical diseases

    so foreign to

    their

    area

    practice

    at

    Syivania.

    Yes

    the

    opportunity

    was

    good

    for

    both

    of

    us

    and

    at

    th e l u n c h t b l e w e

    s h r e d a lo t

    of cons t r uc t i ve

    ide s

    A lab

    technician

came too and opened the door to our new lab. It was grea t to

see the equipment at work. Our nurse Kay

    Dycus

    was

    delighted

    with the whole ef

    fort for

    Doctors

cane and went for nearly the whole month. Her crowning joy and

    ours was in receiving a

    letter

    from one of the

    Doctors

    who claimed Christianville

as t he bet te r run clinic

    of

all he had visited. Kay will be in the U S for a short

    furlough with her supporting churches

    in May

    and June.

    THANK

    YOU

    We are grateful to our

    friends

    for

    the

    contr ibut ions early

    this year that have

continu ed to make our work possible.

    We

a lso appreciate our vis itors and

    their

    encouragement including the Teen

    Missions

    Sewing

    Team

    that spent a few

    days

    with

    us sewing for the children.

    CHAPEL GROUNDBREAKING

ThyWord is a Light unto my path... Psalm 119:105

    The

    church folk left the

    school

    hall in a

    double

    line. Pastor

    Profiton

    holding

    shovel below led in a

    song as

    the line

    made

    its way to the

    chosen spot

    for the

new Chapel. Gathered there on what we feel is the

    most

    beautiful

    site on our

    property

    we

    broke

    ground.

    The

singing was enthusiastic and the prayers

    meaningful. And the people

    have

    a mind to work.

    The

    first gift

    toward

the new building was made by the

    congregation

    a

    total

    of

    100.00. This

    represents

    eight

    months

    of weekly

    special

    offerings.

    In

    addition

    the church

    folk are carrying

    water

    for concrete mixing

    and

    helping in

    various

ways. In spite of their poor

    and

    needy

    state

    they are learning to give

    and

    to

    share. Regular

    weekly

    services are

    held

    including

    a 5 a.m.

    prayer

    meeting each

    morning.

    As

    the Word

    reaches

    hearts

    the

    change

    is

    gradual.

    But it is coming.. .

    a

    change

    the

    darkness of

    HIS CATCH

    Isaw-a boy

    fishing.

Standing on a doci^ in the early morn

    he held h is

    line

    with earnest zeal

while on the ground beside him lay his catch.

There were seven tiny fishes. Yes.

    Ah There it was...

    away

    to a

    And

    there

    he

    carefully

    roasted them

    on one small safety pin.

Oh hungry hungry children... you are there tonight

Tossing on the earthen floor of your thatched hut.

    It w as like a

    cut-in

    on a telephone call.

    We

    had made

    a

    wonderful

    start on

    the new c hurc h

    building for Christianville. At

    th e same

    time

    we

    had

been handi ng out food to needy

    children through

    the clinic.

    CARE

    discontinued

the hand-out program and so Church World Service picked

us up. But they were due to discontinue

    as

well. Then they told us they would

    hold

    the

fort for us until we could plan for

    th e

    Nutrition Center. We weighed the

    matter carefully.

    There were many undernourished children

    ages

five and under that we could

    not feed through

    our

school program. They were finding help through our Clinic.

    So the

    balances tipped

    in favor of th e

    Center...

    th e

    c hurc h c ould wait

    a few

    more

months. Meanwhile the congregation would continue to meet in the school hall.

    Yes

    there ar e requirements

    for a Nutrition

    Center directed

    by the U.S. folk in

charge. There must be a dining hall a kitchen a small office for records and

weighing children and sanitary conveniences. One hundred children will receive a

    cooked

    meal

    each

    day and

    Mothers

    will be

    taught the

    art of

    nutritious cooking.

    The kitchen

    is to be a teaching

    ground.

    And

    t h e r e

    will

    b e Bible l sses for th e Mo th e rs to o .

    But

p ra ye rs w er e needed

    we knew we

    faced another

    of those

    impossible

things. Then God sent the Christians at

    College

Park GA. to help. It was a great

    team.

    Long

    before

    arriving

    they started collecting tools doors

    suffering

    and

    through

    the

    of

    the

    love of Jesus has reached

    its

    goal the

    hearts

    of

    man.

    REVIVAL HAS BROKEN OUT I

    During

    November

    we

    held a

    series

    of evangelistic meetings

    and

    the

    results were tremendous. The

    first week

    13 were baptized

    into

Christ one couple was married and

    25

    others came to accept Christ

    We

are now helping them prepare for marriage and baptism.

    The

    meetings were attended with

    over

    600 people crammed

    into

    the hal l

    that ordinar ily

    can

    barely

    hold 300.

    The singing

    was magnificent

    and

    the joy

    of the Lord

    showed

    on every

    face. The

    people

    made

    the

    theme

    of the week

    we

    are junplng on satan and

    driving him

    out

    Only those who know the

    depth

    of the power of

    satan through

    voodoo

    in

    this

    Island can understand our joy

    in

    evangelism. Our victory

    is yours today. Thank you

    for

    a great

    year

    of

    support in

    prayers

    and giving.

    Let us

    press on

    together.
