HERE On-Street Parking

Next Generation Automotive Services

HERE On-Street Parking service has been developed to mitigate the problem drivers face on a daily basis: Where to find an available parking spot? The service has the following features:

• On-street parking zones & restrictions: rich data showing roads where parking is or isn’t permitted for each side of the street, as well as streets with paid, free or lower-priced parking options.

• Parking availability index for actual time: map link-level occupancy index indicating the chance (0-100%) to find a parking spot at a given time with a granularity of 15 minutes, based on combination of historical probe data and real-time vehicle sensor data, data received from mobile parking payment operators and road sensors.

• Parking availability index for future time: map link-level occupancy index indicating the chance (0-100%) to find a parking spot at a given time of a specific day of the week with a granularity of 15 minutes, based on historical probe data.

• On-street time-to-park estimates: indication of time that a driver would need to find a parking spot at a given time on a given day, which can be used to calculate a more precise ETA.

Data required for the service

DifferentiatorsAccurate : Our mapping vehicles continuously drive around the world to map the areas where it’s allowed to park. The information about parking regulations is sourced from city and regional road authorities. The experience in map-making allows us to maintain the persistent accuracy of our maps.

Robust : In the foundation of the HERE On-Street Parking service we combine historical and real-time data pooled from multiple sources. This ensures consistently robust service with increasing coverage.

Useful : HERE On-Street Parking provides the drivers with the information on how long it’ll take them to find a parking spot nearby. This way, the drivers have a more accurate ETA and can plan their journey better.
