Welcome to the 2017 lfa World championship Show and Sale. The early 2017 llama shows and sales have started off strong, creating a uprising

momentum within our industry. The 2017 lfa event plans to capitalize on this growth by providing a once in a lifetime weekend held in conjunction with The Gathering of friends and champions in Waterloo, Ia.

The lfa Board of Directors came into the year with both seasoned industry volun-teers and fresh faces, giving us a unique perspective as we reviewed history of our organization. We unanimously decided that in order keep the lfa operating, we must establish a baseline and start operating like a business. In order to do this several changes needed to take place, none of which were done lightly. (feel free to ask the other board members about our 3 hour long board calls!) We invite you to join us during our annual Membership Meeting on friday evening, where these details will be discussed more extensively.

We are going to kick off this action packed weekend with fleece judging and per-formance classes beginning on friday morning. as the day progresses we invite you to join us on friday evening for a preview of the claims Male futurity consignments and a co-sponsored party/social hour sponsored by both the lfa and the Gathering. Heavy hor d’oeuvres will be served and the cash bar will be open --- yes, they will be mixing our famous chocolate llama-tinis! We are very grateful for the support from our bar sponsors, Tabbethia Haubold and carol Reigh.

On Saturday morning, Halter classes will begin and the freestyle obstacles will continue. Get in your seats in estell Hall at 2:30 as we begin the famous 2017 lfa sale preview! 18 lots will be marched across the stage and you’ll have an extensive opportunity to examine the next addition to your herd. The lfa regularly provides a great lineup of animals, but the quality in the 2017 auction will knock your socks off! Picking a lot to bid on has never been easier because you cannot go wrong with any of the llamas in this group.

4 breedings to nationally acclaimed male will be auctioned off prior to the lfa sale. The proceeds from the herdsire auction will be donated back to the lfa and help make this weekend possible! This auction not only benefits the lfa and it’s exhibitors, but also gives those who attend an exceptional opportunity to win a breeding to one or more of the herdsires in this great collection. Most of the farms who have donated do not allow outside breeding to these top quality males and we are proud of the 2017 lineup. (Starr alliance, laMS nutcracker, cellini’s amahl, and Gnlc Rampart!)

The Board made the exciting decision to tweak the lfa claims Male futurity this year by allowing consignors to set their own price! The 6 males currently entered are loaded with potential and offer a very diversified set of genetics for you to include in your program. claim your male before he competes in the claims futurity on Saturday afternoon in order to be included in the jackpot prize money! When you’ve made your purchase, please see lfa superintendent, Sandy auld, to make it official.

The 2017 lfa will wrap up it’s events on Sunday morning with the renowned lfa futurity classes. Once again the lfa will be offering the prestige of placing and tak-ing home some of the largest premium payouts in our industry! 100% of the monies collected through entry fees will be paid out in the form of premiums. The Top 10 win-ners will be announced immediately following the last class — no waiting this year!

In closing, I want to thank all the sponsors, consignors, and especially the volunteers. Without your ongoing support, this event could not be provided to the industry.

Have a safe journey,

nick Hauptlylfa President

Meet OurJudges

LFa world Futurity Judgesdeb yeagle is a retired teacher, wife, grandma, and has 40 years worth of experience with sheep and spinning. The past 25 years have included camelids. My passions are fiber arts, pottery, gardening, llamas, and I do my best to live under grace.

mike HaumsCHild and wife Jean reside on a third generation farm in Warsaw, OH where they raise beef cattle and llamas. Mike purchased their first llamas in 1990, and since that time the entire family has been involved in showing. Mike worked several years in florida as a parks and recreation director before moving to Ohio and becoming a teacher for thirty-two years. He taught anatomy and physiology classes and was also the video confer- encing coordinator for the school district. Mike and Jean have two sons, two daughters, one granddaughter and one grandson. Mike is a twenty-three year advisor for a llama 4-H club and has served as a member of the auction and 4-H advisory committees within the county. He was also a contributing author for the Ohio State 4-H llama and alpaca Resource and Record Books now used throughout Ohio and other states with llama and alpaca 4-H projects. Mike is an alSa and IlR-SD judge in halter, youth and performance. He was the Buckeye Regional Show Superintendent for several years and enjoys meeting new llama exhibitors as well as seeing old friends in the llama community.

Joy bisHop-ForsHey, dVm has raised llamas since 1991 and currently operates a small herd of over 30 llamas and alpacas. To support her camelid habit, she is a practicing veterinarian in the northwest Ohio. She graduated from “THe OSu” in 1982 with a BS in animal Science and and DVM degree. Joy had the “joy” of raising 2 sons with the help of the llama community, thru the 4H and alSa youth programs. She was a 4H leader for 9 years and has been the superintendent for the local fair llama and alpaca show for over 20 years. Joy is a fiber enthusiast and an avid spinner. She has expanded her lama horizon by not only judging the luscious fiber, but also the conformation and performance side of these magnificent animals. She believes in encouraging the camelid future – the YOuTH – to appreciate and promote these wonderful animals. Her judging has taken her from local fairs, to across the country and even across “the pond”.

Our consignment S’Mores is as scrumptious in person as her name implies. She has the coverage, bone, density, fiber, style and conformation that any Argentine breeder or show ring enthusiast would want to add to their herd! S’Mores’s sire, Argentine Poltergeist, is a multiple time champion including his big win the 2008 Grand Nationas. He has been heavily promoted and his offspring are well known all across the country. We purchased her dam, Zin Argentine, from RTC Ranch at one of the last Celebrity Sales in Oklahoma and have never regretted it. Zin went on to win her fair share of Championships and then grew up to be one of most impressive females in our breeding herd. S’Mores not only comes from some of the best breeding stock in the country, but she has already proven herself by winning a Grand Champion on her first and only trip off the farm! Before our Grandma (Jean DeBoom) passed away, she had such high hopes for S’Mores and couldn’t wait to show to her off. We hope we’re doing her proud by taking S’Mores on stage at this year’s LFA auction. Come by our stalls, Porter would love to talk to you more about Sanatana’s Smores!

“P” as we call her is one that we should be keeping to show but I guess you can’t keep them all. She is a very athletic girl with great conformation and bone structure. In her very first show she placed 2nd in a very competitive class at the Heartland Show. Her sire PVL Height of Perfection is no longer alive and “P” is the last offspring from him. HP was co-prurchased with Dr. Kristy Brown at the LFA Claims in 2014, he won his class and was reserve champion at the Gathering that year. He produced some great babies for us and Kristy. “P” has a lot of potential and a lot of showing in her future.

Fresca RTC is half Argentine and a powerhouse female! This Argentine Fresco daughter has great conformation along with fantastic ears covered in brown/silver fiber, shorter nose, big bone with stretch, fiber coverage from head to toe and a good disposition. Her fiber is extremely silky, locked and twisted to the skin. RTC Ranch goes back five generations in Fresca’s pedigree. In 2000 when the Argentine herd was in Temuco Chile, Randy purchased and hand picked Argentine Moore, Fres-ca’s grand dam, before Argentines were imported to the United States. In 1986 RTC Ranch bought Fresca’s great great grand sire Quick Silver RTC, a Bolivian import. You don’s luck into consisten-cy, this female is bred right! Her dam is Lady Godiva RTC who produced Lady Diva RTC, the high selling female at the 2015 LFA Sale. Pedigree includes: Argentine Moore, Argentine Fresco, RAR Richochet, Lady Godiva RTC, Fanct RTC, The Boss and Lopez. Fresca RTC was bred to GNLC Scorcher in September 201 and sells with our ranch guarantee. Visit our website to see updated pictures, rtcllamaranch.com or call Randy with questions at (402) 540-4058.

Fast forward a year and I took my Tuna Catcher daughter to him for breeding. Lola is the result of that pairing and she is exactly what I had envisioned from that cross! The fiber coverage, color and substance from Poltergeist and the size and style of her dam. Lola has had one cria for me, a true black daughter by GVL King Juba that we are retaining. The minute you lay eyes on her, you’ll be sure to fall in love with Soul Mate. If you can get past her gorgeous head and ears, silky fiber, and length of neck, you’ll see just how well she’s put together. Don’t take our word for it, at her first show “Souley” won 1st place, Grand Champion, and Best in Show! She is the first offspring of our herdsire, Doctor P, a cross between RE Copiapo and White Heat genetics. Her dam is Becky’s favorite female, a Solid Rock’s Milestone daughter. As a maiden her dam had an easy birth, “Souley” was up in minutes, and she milked like a cow – exactly the kind of maternal genetics anyone wants in their female herd. Soul Mate will be a great show girl, strong breeding female, and sweetheart to have in your pasture. There will be a lot of tears letting this girl go, but we wanted to bring as strong of a consignment as possible to support the LFA. Please call Nick or Becky (319-290-4292) with any questions. www.namastefarmllamas.com

She accumulated halter Championships over the years as well. Her bone and coverage are to die for! Her first cria, sired by Elwood Blues, is a knockout male we are keeping and have added to our show string. Chilean Enterprise is her full Chilean dam – a real bonus and her sire, Walk him up the Stairs was the most exotic son of Chock Full ‘O Nuts I had ever seen. Eyes is one of our BEST. We are trimming down the herd size at Animal Acres, she will be exposed to Elwood Blues for an amazing repeat of her 2016 cria.

We are keeping her first female cria in our herd, a full sister to her current cria. Claire’ showed in the heavy wool division and has kept her show look even after birthing 4 crias. This cria is sired by GNLC Caspian and was solid black at birth, thus her name Ebony! Claire’ is bred back to MSF Blue Chip, our son by Mystery’s Timone, who is a big red and white paint.
