D a t a from th e p r e se n t stu d y c on fir m th e ve ry go od

neonatal response to H BV im muniza tion ; in fa ct, a

pro tect ive lev el o f an ti-H B s (10 m IU /m L ) w as ob -

served in 98 % of infants , w hile o n ly 0 .5 % of the in -

fa n ts w ere no nre spo nde rs . T he se re su lts are in a g re e -

m e n t w ith p r ev iou s stu d ies w h ic h re p o rte d th a t

m o re th an 95 % of infants b o rn to H BsA g -p o sitive

m o th e rs d e ve lop ed a satisfa cto ry im m u n e re sp o n se.1
