    The Mobile Network BackhaulEquipment Market 2013-2018

    Alcatel-Lucent is a global telecommunications company based in Paris, France. Alcatel-Lucent

    offers mobile backhaul solution to enable mobile network operators to seamlessly support AnyG to

    LTE (2G, 3G and LTE) radio access network technologies. The company deals with:

    7.3.1 Alcatel Lucent

    Fixed Line;

    Mobile;

    Converged Networking Hardware; and

    IP Technologies.

    Alcatel-Lucent provides solutions to service providers, enterprises and governments their portfolio

    includes routing and switching equipment for carrier networks including:

    Core;

    Edge;

    Aggregation;

    Customer edge; and

    Management.

    Alcatel-Lucent's major customers are AT&T and Verizon who have been spending heavily on

    mobile network backhaul equipment in 2010-2011. Beyond North America, Alcatel-Lucent has a

    growing reputation. One-third of Alcatel-Lucents revenues are generated in the North American

    mobile backhaul equipment market.

    The U.S. boom has also boosted Alcatel-Lucent's margins because the market is effectively closed

    to low-cost Chinese competitors like Huawei and ZTE Corp over concerns about the security of key

    national infrastructure.

    Alcatel-Lucent had the number one market share position with 22% of worldwide Ethernet mobile

    backhaul equipment revenue for 2012. Visiongain believes that they retained this position in 2013

    and will continue to do so in 2014. We believe their strategy of enhancing their portfolio for an all IP

    wireless transformation service will see them gain substantial market share by 2018.

    7.3.1.1 Analysis of Alcatel-Lucents Offerings

    See Table 7.3 for a summary of AlcatelLucents current offerings.
