Brought to you by Maryland’s Food Supplement Nutrition Education Program (FSNE), MyPlate for My Family is a USDA curriculum designed to encourage adults and their families to make healthy food and physical activity choices. In MyPlate for My Family, the main messages of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2010 are presented using dialogue-based learning. The focus is on the learner and the participants are actively engaged in the learning process, helping facilitate behavior change with hands-on activities that are engaging for participants. MyPlate for My Family curriculum: Promotes behavior change by involving participants in interactive sessions Encourages participants to use nutrition skills and practice physical activities Designed to be delivered to small groups Sessions are approximately 45 minutes in length Participant materials are available in English and Spanish The MyPlate for My Family Toolkit includes resources to improve healthy eating and physical activity behaviors including an Educator’s Handbook and four lesson guides with handouts. Additional support for using this curricula may be available to sites serving low-income adults that develop formal collaborating agreements with Maryland Food Supplement Nutrition Education.
