Upper Iowa University (UIU), is a private institution of higher education with its residential campus located in Northeast Iowa, United States near the Volga River in the rural community of Fayette. UIU o�ers distance education programs that include 15 centers in the US, and an online program and independent study program in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.
HELP College of Arts and Technology conducts the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, the Bachelor of Science in Psychology, the Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies, the Bachelor of Science in Financial Management, the Bachelor of Science Human Resource Management and the Bachelor of Science in Marketing from UIU.
The direct entry program for Form 5 SPM students is a great way for students to gain access into a Tier-1 American University in the afore-mentioned fields of study.

Upper Iowa University (UIU), founded in 1857, is a private, not-for-profit comprehensive university. UIU has a
traditional residential campus in Fayette, Iowa, and 19 o�-campus educational centers in the United States.
In addition, UIU has educational centers in Hong Kong and Malaysia.
William R Du�yThe President
Before being appointed President, Dr Du�y was Upper
Iowa’s senior Vice President for Academic Extension,
with responsibility for o�-campus programs at the UIU
education centres in the US and the UIU distance
education programs globally. Before UIU, Dr Du�y
served 12 years as Executive Director at the University of
Tennessee at Martin. Dr Du�y’s extensive research on
student persistence and performance was published in
the book A Critical Examination of the Advanced
Placement Program (Harvard Education Press, 2010).
Dr Du�y is a graduate of the US Military Academy at
West Point. He served 20 years as an o�cer in the US
Army, where held numerous leadership positions
involving planning, organizing, managing resources and
equipment and recruiting in locations around the world.
He retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel.

Dr Chandran has more than 30 years’ experience as a teacher trainer. He has worked in organizations in the government and private sectors. His areas of specialization include English for Specific Purposes, Public Speaking, Corporate Communication Skills, Independent Learning, Critical and Creative Thinking Skills, IELTS, Business Communication, TOEFL, Business Ethics, Writing Skills, TESL Methodology, Research Methodology, Curriculum and Syllabus Design and Assessment. Dr Chandran was awarded the Fethi Azaiez/Stanley Ndeke Memorial Prize from Edinburgh University for strengthening relations between overseas and home students.

Dr Siri Roland Xavier
Dr Xavier started his career with Andersen Consulting providing consultation services to the local banking industry. He was the co-founder and Country Manager of the Malaysian E-Pulp n Paper country office for 8 years. Since 2009, he has been the National Team Leader for the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), the world’s foremost study of Entrepreneurship. He is a member of the National Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Practices (STEP), a global applied research initiative that establishes learning partnerships between academics and business families. He is also a Board Member of the Global Entrepreneurship Research Association (GERA) and a founding member of The Babson Collaborative for Entrepreneurship Education. He is a keen researcher and keynote speaker and has presented papers at conferences globally. Since 2012 he has been an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Global Entrepreneurship Research and a Reviewer of Emerald Emerging Markets Case Studies. He was awarded the National Outstanding Researcher Award – Entrepreneurship, Private University Category, 2015 by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. His consultancy and corporate training include companies like Petronas, Toyota Tsusho, SME Bank, Maybank, CIMB and local universities. His research interests include Entrepreneurial Policy, Innovation Management and Development, Corporate Entrepreneurship and International Business Management.

Dr Petra Speier-Werner
Dr Petra Speier-Werner teaches management and psychology courses in the UIU programs at HELP CAT. She has worked for the German federal government, at Deloitte Business Consulting, and for one of the biggest German NGOs in poverty eradication. She has worked in Europe, Latin America and Africa. She has been an independent international consultant, coach and a lecturer. Her areas of interest are: Organizational Development, Management and Leadership, Strategy Develop- ment and Implementation, Quality Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Psychology, Motivation and Action, Work and Task Analysis and Design, and Project Management. Dr Speier-Wer- ner loves to teach and support students and organizations to grow.

Dr Kurt Bruder
Dr Kurt Bruder teaches communication courses in the UIU programs at HELP CAT. He is a communication scholar-teacher, trained psychotherapist, and student of spiritual development. Dr Bruder has trained communication professionals in skill areas like public speaking, interpersonal and intercultural communication, communication theory and persuasion. In the UIU-HELP CAT campus, he is presently teaching News Editing, Feature Writing, and Writing for Media, and guiding students approaching graduation in their Senior Projects. Dr Bruder is the author of several books. He is also a recording artist.

Dr Mehran Rostamzadeh
Dr Mehran has taught psychology since 1994 at universities around the world such as Khorasgan Azad University, Karaj Azad University, Isfahan University (Iran), Ra�es School of Psychology, INTI International University and Upper Iowa University. He also practised as a counselling psychologist and psychotherapist for 18 years and worked for various industries as a psychologist, researcher, manager and tutor. Dr Mehran’s fascination with the topics of place attachment in human behavior and the psychology of suicide resulted in his completing two PhD degrees on those subjects at universities in Malaysia. Dr Mukunda Kumar MS Nair
Dr Mukunda’s extensive work experience covers education, pharmacy and the medical and corporate sectors. He has held senior managerial positions in pharmaceutical companies in Malaysia. His academic career includes teaching MBA and undergraduate students in the collaborative programs of the universities of Nottingham-Trent, East London, Southern Queensland, Coventry, Greenwich, Upper Iowa, Sunderland and Southern Cross. He is a certified trainer for the Human Resource Development Council and for Six Seconds, an international organization dedicated to the awareness of emotional intelligence. Dr Mukunda is a freelance trainer in the employment and labor laws of Malaysia, HRM and emotional intelligence. He is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Management and sits on the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia.

Dr Vincent Wee Eng Kim
A graphic designer by profession, Dr Wee diverted into advertising and marketing. He is currently a marketing and brand consultant and an adjunct professor for the Upper Iowa University program at HELP CAT. He has more than 20 years of working experience as art director, management consultant, post production executive and client servicing. He has worked with Deloitte Management Consultant and System Televisyen Malaysia (TV3). He has written nine books on branding and advertising. His most recent consultation projects were undertaken for clients like Metrojaya, Co�eeland and Freeprint. Dr Wee’s current research interest is CSR and Branding.

Dr Shoba Gunarasa’s passion for developing individuals to fulfill their potential derives from her experience as a department head tasked to spearhead marketing and logical feasibility studies for international business expansion. Her specializations are strategic analysis, strategy planning, decision making and international business. Dr Shoba lectures in management, strategy, marketing and entrepreneurship courses for MBA programs of UK and Australian partner Universities. Dr Shoba is a Master’s level examiner in Global Corporate Strategy for Sunderland University’s partner universities worldwide. She is also a certified ISO Auditor with 12 years’ corporate experience in diverse industries here and abroad. She has worked in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Women’s Institute of Management Malaysia, which is dedicated to leadership and skills training for women in the ASEAN region and further afield.
