HELP OUR DOCTORS!
Using machine learning techniques you will be asked to develop an algorithm to predict which patients are most likely to develop an illness
Due to certain cancer treatments, some
patients’ immune system deteriorates and
they are likely to suffer from febrile
neutropenia and there is a considerable
risk that they might develop a possibly-
fatal disease called bacteremia.
To perform a complete diagnosis to
determine if a patient has bacteremia takes
multiple days and for infected patients this
drastically increases their risk of dying.
Therefore most patients are treated with
strong and expensive antibiotics right away
even if they might not need it.
There is, however, a huge amount of
historical data available regarding the tests
performed on each patient and their
surroundings that could help predict the
probability of a patient developing
bacteremia.
