4 Duo – inline coating before and after offset printing

A Duo configuration is a coordinated combination of coating units and dryers that enables inline coating both before and after offset printing.

3 FoilStar – inline application of cold foil prior to offset printing

FoilStar offers inline surface finishing by applying cold foil via two offset units. An adhesive is applied in the first printing unit and the foil itself in the second (full-area or spot application). The pressure applied between the blanket and impression cylinders transfers the cold foil onto the substrate. Overprinting with offset inks can be used to achieve finishes such as metallic effects.

2 LYYL – double coating after offset printing

An LYYL configuration makes it possible to combine conven-tional inks with dispersion and UV coatings. The dispersion coating serves as a protective layer – following one IR and two hot-air drying processes (dryer unit + interdeck dryer).The UV coating can then be applied and cured using UV drying.

The Speedmaster XL 75 is the perfect solution in the

50 × 70 centimeters (19.69 × 27.56 inches) format

class. It optimizes availability, minimizes makeready

times, and maximizes production speeds in all appli-

cations, thereby providing a vital edge in terms of

technology and productivity.

Configured for success. The Speedmaster XL 75 offers

Peak Performance in ecological printing. As a pioneer

of ecological printing, Heidelberg develops solutions

to eliminate or reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) and pro-

cess emissions and cut waste. Consequently, the

technology of the Speedmaster XL 75 sets standards

in more than just productivity. Its excellent energy and

resource efficiency make it the most environmentally

friendly press in its class. A measuring device can be

used to measure and display the machine’s energy ef-

ficiency per 1,000 sheets during production. This al-

lows the operator to run the machine with exceptional

energy efficiency.

Another way of reducing energy requirements is to

employ a heat recovery system to reuse heat from the

exhaust air of the DryStar® Combination dryer for the

drying process. The Star System peripherals are per-

fectly coordinated with the press. They are highly effi-

cient and designed to conserve energy and resources.

Reducing or completely eliminating the use of alcohol

by equipping the press with special packages makes

another important contribution to ensuring environ-

mentally friendly print production. This results in a

print process that delivers eco-friendly operation at

lower costs.

duction. Its reliable sheet separation, smooth and

precise feeding of the sheet into the first printing unit,

and excellent feed registration lay the foundation for

optimum results at top print speeds of up to 18,000

sheets per hour. The high level of automation reduces

makeready times and optimizes productivity. A multi-

stage sheet monitoring system ensures reliable pro-

duction. During transfer to the first printing unit, the

Preset Plus Feeder delivers excellent print quality – by

Makeready times also play an important role. Totally

reliable, fully automated simultaneous plate changes

and impressively short washup processes that, for ex-

ample, enable even faster and more eco-friendly

cleaning of the blanket are key here. Inline measure-

ment and control of ink and register during produc-

tion cut makeready times and paper waste further

still.

The coating unit – dazzling diversity. Equipped with a

chambered blade system, the coating unit makes it

possible to use a number of different coatings, includ-

ing dispersion, UV, metallic, and special-effect coat-

ings. Reproducible high-precision application delivers

outstanding coating results, even at top speeds. Com-

bination clamping bars enable coating plates and coat-

ing blankets to be switched over in just a few simple

steps, which saves valuable makeready time.

Perfect color – faster. Maintaining the desired color

The Alcolor® dampening system produces an ex-

FoilStar offers inline surface finishing by applying cold foil via two offset units. An adhesive is applied in the first printing unit and the foil itself in the second (full-area or spot application). The pressure applied between the blanket and impression cylinders transfers the cold foil onto the substrate. Overprinting with offset inks can be used to achieve finishes such as metallic effects.
