For that professional, crispy look

Here’s the Introduction. I’m a graphic designer, I’m an illustrator, I’m an artist. Honestly, I’m really a mixed hybrid of all three. Yes, gas and electric. Anolog and digital. I’m not that popular, although I’ve done various projects for people throughout the world. Designers and illustrators never get their shine though. We may know the logos and characters of certain things but we never seem to know or care who actually created them. This is my art book, my design manual. Google is a verb now, I heard a young lady once say “google” me. You don’t have to google me, just enjoy the book.

Heavy Starch, for that professional crispy look that’s also wrinkle free, I set out with a pen, sketchbook and a digital tablet to create some visual pleasures.

I’m from a city. One city, built off of banking, that lacks arts culture, yet it somehow created this book. I came to the understanding that no one wants to be where they are, few want to be who they are and we all tend to think that the grass is greener on the other side. Does one’s environment create who or what one is? That’s a great question. I ask myself this on a regular basis. However, I created this book. This art book to say. This book does not reflect the art environment I’ve come to know growing up. From what I know and have noticed about that art environment I grew up in, I should only be doing mediocre abstract paintings, or those cute landscape paintings. Lets say I did go that route and perhaps weren’t as good at my craft or profession, then I could create an image for my personality in order to help steer onlookers even more. Better yet if I’m in an environment that lacks art culture in general, then I shouldn’t even be in arts at all, this is a corporate banking environment. I should be a banker, that’s being a product of my environment. We tend to forget about being individuals and often need something else to blame, its easier. This book is my creation, this book is not the product of my environment, its a product of my thoughts, my talent, me, the individual...

...However if you dislike this book, please feel free to blame it on my environment.

My first mistake, was not having the understanding that comic books consisted of mostly fictional characters. I began to view them as merely art and great ideas. A bunch of these superheroes that we worship and follow don’t really exist and if they did I doubt they could defy the physics and laws of gravity and science that we know of here on earth. I tried to summon my car to come pick me up once during a down pour, it didn’t work, the guy in gothem city has a car that does things on his command, why not me? Even the silly super powers and abilities don’t work. I was once cut off in traffic and out of an act of rage, I pushed the trigger (the horn) in my mid 90’s sedan to shoot the turtle shell at the other car, nothing happened though. I once lost my hotel key in the ocean, trying to talk to the fish to go find it was damn near impossible. It’s hard enough to just keep all the bills paid on time in this realm.

We tend to always think about applying cartoon and comic book-like tendencies to our lives, but what if we applied real life tendencies to cartoon characters?

A chemical warfare stare.

Politics as usual...Say, what if political leaders were placed in the roll as superheroes or villians?

The idea isn’t too far fetched, we place a lot in our political figures, after all, these are the people that lead us and combat the problems of the world.

Some of us remain invisible though. Faceless unsung heroes, that battle our own problems and troubles in order to makethe world a better place. Invisible soldiers. Soldiers that battle throughout the war known as everyday life.

Everyone seems to be on a mission to find themselves. Most of us only want our happiness. Happiness can be simple, its not that hard to find. When happiness is obtained and taken away in an instant, love and lost happiness begin to fuel hate. The reason for the hatred is revenge.

36

We often dream of having the power to create our happiness. Normally when we dream of such things, our power is pretty low and is not at full charge. Beat up and battered, searching for that happiness, some of us only wish to be running on full power.

Graffiti was outlawed and there was actually a graffiti task force put into effect in order to enforce these new anti- graffiti laws. This spawned a new kind of “suicide bomber”.
