• Our partnership with the University of Liverpool secured £200k funding to develop strategies around CVD prevention

• 33 nurseries completed our pre-school nutrition course resulting in improved nutrition for the 1,300 children in their care

• 29 Cheshire and Merseyside Charters have been awarded to workplaces protecting over 15,000 community staff from the harmful effects of second hand smoke

• The Healthy Stadia Network has recruited over 220 member organisations from the fields of sport, health NGOs and academia across 14 countries

• For every £1 invested by PCTs the charity attracted 150% additional funding to invest back into CVD prevention

• Smoking among young people in the NW is higher than the national average, with 18% of 14-17 year olds smoking

• Taking on the Tobacco Industry

• Smokefree and mental health

• Tackling illicit tobacco through specialist training

• Support for hospital in-patients

• National and European advocacy

Evidence based research is critical

• Working in partnership with the University of Liverpool

• Evidence-based research is absolutely crucial in influencing local and national policy

• Improving food for the under-fives

• Identifying the most effective and cost-effective CVD prevention policies across a number of European countries

• IMPACT model: Showing that about 60% of the fall in CHD deaths is due to reductions in risk factors

A social enterprise company aimed at improving health and wellbeing

• HoM set up HM Partnerships as a social enterprise company in 2008. Available profits are reinvested in the charity

• HM Partnerships supports partners with comprehensive health interventions, programmes and strategies aimed at improving health and wellbeing

• Liverpool Nursery Nutrition Project. Findings have been used by the School Food Trust to inform the government report: Laying the Table: Recommendations for National Food and Nutrition Guidance for Early Years Settings in England

• Improving health in Wigan

• Health Trainers and Worklessness pilot

• Healthy Stadia Impact Analysis Toolkit

Governance and financeThe Trustees:

• Have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate such risks

• Have reviewed HoM’s finances, including its reserves, throughout the financial year

• All funding sources are detailed on page 37 in the Annual Report. Our particular thanks go to the primary care trusts in Cheshire and Merseyside for their continuing funding in 2010/11

• HoM’s complete audited accounts for 2010/11 are available at this meeting. The Annual Report contains an abbreviated set
