Heart of Gold Legacy Challenge What is it? A legacy gift, promised now, will generate an immediate $5,000 donation to the Mary’s Woods Resident Fund, for donors who document new planned* gifts or bequests to Mary’s Woods. How did this heart-felt challenge come to be? Out of deep gratitude for their home here at Mary’s Woods, and the desire to help ensure that the Resident Fund will continue to grow and provide assistance to a neighbor who finds they have outlived their resources, a small group of Mary’s Woods Residents committed to make an immediate donation to the Resident Fund for donors who document a new planned* gift or a bequest to Mary’s Woods. How much is available? As of October 16, 2019, a Legacy Challenge Pool of $35,000 is available to encourage donors to document a new and qualifying planned* gift that will benefit the Resident Fund in the future. e first 7 of these future pledges will prompt an immediate gift of $5,000 to the Resident Fund, given out of the Legacy Challenge Pool (7 X $5,000 = $35,000!). e Heart of Gold Legacy Challenge will end on June 30, 2021. Please join in! *What types of planned gifts qualify? Planned gifts eligible for this challenge include: bequests via a will or living trust, beneficiary designation of a retirement account or life insurance policy, or participation in the Give 10 program whereby 10% or more of the refundable portion of one’s Mary’s Woods Entrance Fee is donated to the Resident Fund. How will donors be recognized for their gift? Residents who participate in the Heart of Gold Legacy Challenge will become members of the Gold Medallion Legacy Society, be listed on the major donor plaque and in the Honor Roll of Donors in the annual Community Benefit Report.
