This slideshow is some of what I heard from drivers in Uber and Olacabs in Pune
How can developers/testers ever imagine these situations
People in Pune, India have a reputation of being idiosyncratic
I don’t think these examples are particular to Pune and will be found in other Indian/world cities
कुठे जायचंय Translation: Where do you want to go ( कहा जानेका ? )
This is mostly a harmless question, except…
Drivers ask this before arriving
In some cases, they excuse themselves, or ask me to cancel
I always oblige
कैश देणार का ओला मनी Translation: Will you pay cash or use a online wallet (कैश देंगे या ओला मनी)

Except the driver asked this before arriving...and cancelled
टायर पुमंचर झ्हालाय Translation: My tyre is punctured (टायर पंकचर होगया)
I once heard this three times after booking three cabs in a row!
आहो पण …..Translation: But, but…. (अरे साब....)
आहो, मी हिहंजेवाडीला चाललोयTranslation: C’mon, I am going to Hinjewadi (अरे साब, मै हिहंजेवाडी जा रहा हुँ)
I was told this when I booked a shared cab
OK, Cancel enter a fake reason in the app, e.g., I changed my mind
आहो मी हिहंजेवाडीत आहेTranslation: C’mon I am at Hinjewadi (अरे साब, मै हिहंजेवाडी मे हूँ)
I got this when I booked a cab - C’mon you don’t expect me to come there
I didn’t complain to Olacabs - after the app went through all the motions of showing nearby cabs, then using all their algorithms to book the cab, I won’t hold the driver responsible
कस्टमर फोन केल्या शिशवाय मी हलत नाही !!Translation: I won’t move unless the customer calls me (कसटमर फोन करने तक मै हीलता नही)
This happened in a Ola rickshaw
This means the complete breakdown of the app system - when you book a cab will the driver come or are you expected to call or…..
मी ट्रीप सुरू करतो आणी लगेच बंद करतो Translation: I’ll start the trip and immediately cancel ( मै ट्रीप शुरू करता हूँ और तुरंत बंद करता हूँ)
Once I couldn’t seem to find the option to cancel the trip
The driver told me that he will start the trip and cancel immediately
There is no end to the ingenuity of drivers!!!
I then got a charge of Rs. 83

कम्प्लेन करू नका, मला फाईन लागेल Translation: Don’t complain. I’ll be fined. (कम्प्लेन मथ कीजिजये मुझे फाइन लगेगा)

५ स्टार द्या बर का Translation: Can you make sure you give me a 5 star rating (५ स्टार देना )
I always do….
Unless the driver is criminal (that has never happened)
मी तुमचा मोबाइल टॉप उप करतो Translation: I will top up your mobile phone (मैं आपका मोबाइल टॉप उप करँूगा)
When I was charged Rs. 83 for a trip I didn’t take
And the driver asked me not to complain
He offered to top up my mobile phone for the amount
It didn’t work and I gave up trying to get the money
Ola never knew. I won’t tell.
मी त्याला सोडणार नाही Translation: I won’t leave him (मैं उसको छोडूंगा नही)
I was telling a driver that the ones before him had cancelled my booking
He then told me that customers often cancel at the last moment leaving him high and dry.
He continued to tell me that he would stalk the customer and teach him a lesson (this is really difficult to translate.)
His statement did not meant that he will cause harm. It was just a rant
तुमही कॅन्सल करा Translation: You cancel the booking (आप बुहिकंग कैं सिसल कीजिजए)
After all the previous reasons, drivers often ask me to cancel
