Community planning and public health are undeniably intertwined. The effects from how we design and build San Tan Valley are directly attributable to many chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. In fact, physical inactivity and poor diet is the second leading cause of death in the United States. By finding creative ways to increase physical activity in San Tan Valley, planners, local officials, and residents can create a more supportive community where
the healthy choice is the easy choice.
