WELL Health-Safety Rating for Facility Operations and Management

MONAHOLTKOTTER

Based in Dublin, Mona Holtkötter is a Manager on the Market Solutions team, supporting project teams and clients looking to promote health and well-being in the European market.

The International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI™) is a public benefit corporation with a mission to improve human health and well-being through buildings and communities. IWBI administers the WELL Building Standard™ (WELL™), the world’s premier building standard focused exclusively on human health and wellness. The WELL Certification program is an evidence-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring the performance of building features and other aspects of the built environment that impact the health and well-being of the people in the spaces we create.

After several years of working as a mechanical building services engineer for a renowned engineering consultancy in Berlin and Dublin, Mona joined IWBI in Europe. At IWBI, Mona works as a technical coach guiding European projects through the WELL Building Standard and the WELL Community Standard.

In her previous role she specialized in sustainable and health focused mechanical design approaches. As one of Ireland’s first WELL APs, Mona worked on numerous WELL registered projects, bringing sustainability and healthy building design under one umbrella.

Mona is a Chartered Engineer with CIBSE and Engineers Ireland and also holds WELL AP, LEED AP in Building Design and Construction, and Home Performance Index Assessor qualifications.

Combining her background in mechanical design, energy simulation and sustainability, Mona is keen to support the European market to design sustainable and health focused buildings and communities.

The WELL Health-Safety Rating for Facility Operations and Management is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating for all facility types, focused on operational policies, maintenance protocols, emergency plans and stakeholder education to address a post-Covid-19 environment now and border health and safety-related issues into the future.

Impact of poor terminal units design on occupant health: Case study

IMRANSHAIKH

Improper design of terminal units results in poor dehumidification as it supplies more air to the space than required and operates at higher off coil temperature to meet the sensible cooling demand of the space resulting in increased humidity in the space and can result in condensation which facilitates the mold/ mildew formation impacting thermal comfort and occupant health. This presentation will cover the following with the use of actual project case study:

• Criteria of how to correctly size the terminal units to prevent over cooling and humidity issues in the apartment bedrooms and hotel guestrooms.

• Common myths associated to oversized terminal units.

• Impacts of the oversized terminal

and room thermal

Imran Shaikh, Vice Chair of the CIBSE U.A.E Committee, is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and Fellow of CIBSE working at SSH International Consultants. He has over 11 years of experience in the fields of MEP Design, Sustainability, Energy Efficiency, Project Execution and Management with several prestigious certifications like ASHRAE certified (HBDP, BEAP, BEMP), CEM, LEED AP, PQP to his name.

A Data Driven and People Centred Future

SHRIKANT SHARMA

Shrikant leads our Analytics team that offers innovative insights into how people interact with their surroundings, harnessing this insight to optimise the design and operational logistics for buildings and urban spaces. This “people-centered” design approach uses our insights into people’s behaviour, activities and journeys to maximise space utilisation, wayfinding, circulation efficiency, retail revenues, operational effectiveness, resilience, and ultimately visitor experience.

Shrikant is a leading consultant on people movement and has led and executed several major consultancy projects, in sectors ranging from masterplanning to detailed design of major exhibition and cultural events, airports, hospitals, and major transport hubs. He has a particular flair for communicating – in a visually engaging manner – the bottlenecks, risks and opportunities from existing or proposed spaces, and how they can be transformed into inspirational, safe and inclusive places.

Through the lens of multidisciplinary thinking, Shrikant has a particular focus on cutting edge research and development of sophisticated BIM-integrated modelling tools and emerging technologies for early stage design optioneering as well as real-time visualisation and predictive modelling.

The Smart Space team, founded by Shrikant in 2002, is pushing the boundaries of technological innovations in the industry, which is reflected in its suite of smart, intuitive, flexible and highly interactive software developed in-house. These include tools for rapid and real-time space analysis, integrated building modelling and optimisation, crowd flow simulations, automated sensing, live performance visualisation, and Big Data analytics.
