HEALTH ECONOMICS & OUTCOME ANALYSIS [HEOA]

Dear Delegate,

Greetings from the Organizing committee of HEOA 2019!

We are pleased to inform you all that the department of Pharmacology, NEIGRIHMS, will be

holding a workshop on ‘Health Economics and Outcome analysis’, to be held on 22nd and 23rd of

February 2019 in our Institute.

Health economics studies compare costs, clinical, and humanistic outcomes associated with

different therapies and can aid the policy makers and the healthcare providers in decision making in

evaluating the affordability of and access to rational drug use. With ever increasing healthcare costs,

value added care provided to the patients by individual healthcare institution needs to be further

researched. It relates patients, society, and economy, to drug therapy. The development of Health

economics is at an infancy stage in India at the moment, despite the rapid growth of other areas of

clinical research. There is a need to train the students as well as the faculties in the country to hike the

research in this field. In this regard, we think that this workshop would be of great benefit. We plan to

create a basic understanding about health economic analysis, delivering cost-effectiveness message to

decision makers and also to introduce basic modeling techniques that are being used routinely in such

analyses.

The speakers are from academics as well as pharmaceutical industry having great experience in

economic outcome research for many years. The noted resource persons are from prime institutions

in the country including All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), North Eastern Indira

Gandhi Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) and North Eastern Hill University

(NEHU). We have also included eminent persons from pharmaceutical industry to guide us regarding

the actual practice of Pharmacoeconomics.

Expecting your participation,

With regards

Organizing committee
