Welcome to our school newsletter - Issue 7
Dear Parents/Carers,
As you will read below, the support that has been shown to the PTA this term
is overwhelming. Everyone’s contribution to the school and PTA is
appreciated and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your
families a very merry Christmas and best wishes for 2017.

PTA News
Thank you for all your support for the fun and fundraising activities
co-ordinated by PTA volunteers across the school this term. Your
contributions make such a difference to the success of the activities by
enriching the experience for the children and raising valuable funds for
school projects. For more information on current projects and fundraising
targets please refer to the school’s website.
Since September the exciting events have so far raised £11,600 culminating
with the most recent Children’s disco (£1.3k), Christmas Cards (to follow),
Christmas Trees (£525) and Christmas Market (£5k). A great achievement by
the children with their superb Christmas creativity as well for the teachers,
staff and parents/carers with their commitment and support.
Planning for PTA activities in 2017 has now commenced and the feedback
received from the PTA Survey at Parents Evening has been valuable in
identifying particular preferences from the School Community.
We received responses from 141 individuals and overwhelmingly 91% of
respondents highlighted they would attend a family theatre event. The idea
of an Open Air Cinema was also well received (81%), and a number of
alternative suggestions were made, which will be discussed at the next PTA
event.
Wishing you a very happy Christmas and New Year.
Louise Dennis
Parking Reminder
We have received a
complaint from a local
resident regarding West Gate
parents parking over
driveways in the surrounding
area. Please can we remind
you to park considerately as
the residents will be reporting
any illegal parking directly to
the Police. Thank you for your
co-operation
School Dinners
Please remember to check
your dinner money balances
on Tucasi before the end of
term. School dinners must be
paid for in advance and any
pupils with debt from this term
on their account will not be
able to have school dinners
from January until the debt is
cleared. Tucasi will be
updated on the last day of
term to show the amount
owed for the Spring term.
On Wednesday 21 December
the school kitchen will be
providing a fish and chips
dinner for the children instead
of the usual roast dinner.
The children will be delighted
as this is the most
popular meal by far.

Sports Support - Thank you
At Stamford Green we work hard to encourage the children to lead fit and healthy
lifestyles, part of this is to encourage them to engage in sport. As a school we try to
enter as many borough sports events with as many children as possible. We pride
ourselves on the fact that every child in Y6, who wants to, will represent the school on
the sports field before they leave us at the end of Y6.
The borough competitions have really developed over
the past few years and I wanted to take this opportunity
to thank our parents and carers for your continued
support at these events. I am always extremely proud of
the way our children conduct themselves at sporting
events. However our supporters are equally respectful,
encouraging and positive and need to be
acknowledged for this as well.
So thank you to all who have stood on a side line over
recent years and no matter what, have remained
positive to the children and staff at all times.
It really does make a difference!

I N S P I R I N G
Thank you for all the generous donations after the YR
Carols and Y1/Y2 Nativities. We will be sending a
cheque for the monies raised to Crisis. So far we have
counted £552.37. This provides support for 24 people over
the Christmas period. Fantastic news!
Hot of the press … Today’s Mufti Day
in support of Save the Children
Christmas Jumper Day has so far
raised £392.26. Thank you for
supporting this very worthwhile
cause.
Well done to the Choir
and Mrs James for raising
£92.71 by singing in The
Ashley Centre for EMEF.
Further to the recent Anti-Bullying competition – Power for Good, Mrs Dray and the Behaviour
Partnership were very impressed with the
standard of the entries. It is clear that the children have a good understanding of what to do if
they
encounter bullying. The winners of the
competition were:
Year 1 – Milly Playle
Year 2 – Vishal Soni
Year 3 – Lyra Hamilton
Year 4 – Elsie Macauley
Year 5 – Ayushi Soni
Year 6 – Mia Stevens
A massive well done to those children in particular. The winners can look forward to lunch out at
The Vale school in the new year, hosted by their Behaviour Ambassadors.

Away in a Danger and Promoting Resilience for Children with Anxiety
Mrs Dray organised a well received workshop for parents about screen time for children and
the associated dangers. The workshop was called, ‘Away in a Danger’. If you were unable to
attend, you may like to look at the PowerPoint slides from the session on the following link:

Mrs Dray has also organised another workshop for parents about anxiety in children. The session
is called, ‘Promoting Resilience for Children with Anxiety’ and will be held at
school on Thursday 23 February 2017 at 9.00am - 10.00am.
Please make a note of the date in you diaries.
What the children say:
Spotlight on Values through Homework
This term I have received some fantastic pieces of values
based homework from various children. As it is not a
compulsory homework task, it is lovely to see the children
choosing this task and writing so passionately about values
that they feel are important to them.
Although the children at Stamford Green consistently show a
variety of values on a daily basis, homework tasks that
Involve writing about these help the children to reflect on
their understanding of value and how they show them
regardless of where they are.
Here are just a few of those that I’ve received and I’m sure
you’ll agree that lots of effort and resilience has gone into
these to make them this fantastic!

Our Value for December is:
Co-operation
Craze of the week
This week it’s been space hoppers
V A L U E S
Showing co-operation is a skill that involves using many
other values such as patience or using good manners.
It is something we see the children doing on a daily
basis at school and a value that we believe is
definitely instilled in the children at Stamford Green.

Carol Service 2016
This year's Carol Service was another success and it's all down to
the wonderful children! They sang their hearts out to old favourites
and new songs. A massive thank you to the Year 6 narrators (Elliott
King, Ella Crowther, Toby Symons, Mia Stambrey, Lizzie
Baker, Lillyrose Grimshaw, Christopher Pahl, Ollie Hayward, Hugo
Jennings, Izzie Giles, Scarlett Tillman and Oscar White) and the Year
2 children who acted out the
Christmas story( Rosie Walker, Lucy
Stevens, Isaac Newby, Sam
Wickens, Ana Collins, Tallulah
Henson, Katie Crane, Dylan
Maw, Ollie Hoare and Ben
Wheatley). Also a special mention
to Tomas Lorenz who played the
organ so beautifully and Amelia
Roberts for the programme design.
Reception’s First Christmas Carols
Weeks of hard work and rehearsals came to fruition this week for our
Reception children and they did themselves proud! RM, RW, RV and
RD worked so hard to remember lots of words and actions to our
Christmas songs. All the children looked very festive in their Christmas
jumpers and remembered to give their best smiles while performing
on the stage. It can be a daunting experience to get up and sing in
front of an audience but the children used our school values
of courage and resilience to help them. It was fantastic to see so
many parents and carers coming to support their children, they really
enjoyed the whole experience (and we hope you did too!).
Festive Cheer
What a wonderful lead up to the Christmas break we have had with the Christmas performances
taking place this week. Well done to all the children who worked so hard to learn all their lines and
excelled themselves by delivering such brilliant performances. We are so proud of you all.

A message from Surrey County Council
regarding September 2017 Admissions
for Reception School Places;
We especially welcome online applications, however parents can also request a paper application form or seek impartial help in completing an application via the Surrey Schools & Childcare Service (0300 200 1004). Full information is available on Surrey's website at www.surreycc.gov.uk/admissions. Applications received after the closing date without good reason will be treated as late and will not be considered until all on time applications have been processed. This may jeopardise the chance of a parent being offered one of their preferred schools for their child.
The closing date for Reception and Junior applications for September 2017 entry is 15
January 2017.
