Headmaster Collar SizingIf you happen to measure in between 2 sizes, please order the smaller of the 2 sizes for best fit.Take measurement for headmaster collar sizing beginning at the center point of the chin in the front,straight to the jaw, just under the area where it forms an angle or curve.The collar sizing should fit as detailed below at headmastercollar.com:To determine the proper sized collar, use the instruction guidelines below.Use a ruler or tape measure and start from the chins center point straight to the edge of the jaw under theear where it forms an angled curve that you can feel.

Headmaster Collar Sizing

Pick the sizing that matches the number you get from the ruler which corresponds to “a” in the illustration.Again, the smaller collar should be chosen if you fall in between 2 sizes.You always measure for the Headmaster collar by measuring from the tip of the chin to the angle of themandible (jaw). As you are trying to get the shortest distance between these two points ( in other words, thebone measurement), it is always recommended to measure with a straight ruler (or calipers, or fingers usedas calipers) and to measure under the jaw. Measuring along the side will give you a distorted measurebecause of curvature, muscle and fat layers, as will using a fabric measuring tape.

Headmaster Collar AccessoriesAnterior SupportAn add-on anterior tube with an extra chin pad gives firm resistance againstflexion. The Anterior Support should be removed if the collar is used fortransportation.

Additional Support With Headmaster Collar AccessoriesThe neck pad provides additional support for the back of the head.This increases comfort and provides an extra measure of head support inextension.

The extension pads provide additional support for the neck and can bepositioned for central or more lateral support as needed. This can help withlateral control of the head.

Headmaster Collar Accessories NecessityThe collar stands by itself as an excellent support for deficient motorcoordination of head and neck muscles, however, there are occasions whereheadmaster collar accessories add to the function of the collar. Many ofteninquire regarding an extra chin pad. These are available with the anteriorsupport. The reason is some require the addition of a tube to fortify theflexion resistance of the collar. The anterior support performs this functionwell, however, it does make the front of the collar more rigid. This requiresthe addition of a chin pad to ease the strain about the chin

The neck pad is a single padding accessory for the collar which provides amild amount of extension resistance. This can be helpful if there is a mildlack of control of the head with neck extension.

The extension pads are headmaster collar accessories that provide morestability in either extension or lateral flexion. They can be positionedmedially and close together, which provides greater extension resistance thanthe neck pad for moderate extension resistance. By positioning the extensionpads laterally, there is increased resistance to lateral flexion. This isimportant when there is instability with side to side control of the head. Bothpads attach by means of a small Velcro strip attached directly to the pads, soit just pushes onto the inside of the strapping for easy installation andadjustments.
