The Guardian Omnia in Excellentia John Paul the Great Academy is a small, independent Catholic, school that provides a rigorous classical education in liberal arts and sciences and promotes the sacred traditions of the Roman Catholic Church. November 2019 Dear Guardians, The heart of community beats so as to build up the whole. The recent events of Fall Fest and Trunk or Treat were excellent reminders of our community here. In this spirit there has been a proposal for Sunday afternoon Rosary and picnic a couple of Sundays of the month. This will likely begin soon. With that in mind, another new project that we are working on is, “Hot Chocolate with the Headmaster.” Very often I will see parents in carline, or get an email when there is something to react to, but very rarely have time to discuss something substantial with them. To that end, once a month after upper school morning prayer, any parents that want to can come and enjoy (hopefully) a brief presentation and discussion, followed by a short fellowship. Young children are welcome. More details to come. Also regarding community, someone else who has joined our community here at JPG is Mr. Stacey Broussard. He is serving in a part-time capacity as an evening janitor. He has worked at the Lafayette courthouse for a number of years and continues to serve there as well. He rides an electric scooter to school, so you may see him during afternoon carline. Regarding other goings-on around campus, the playground is currently closed due to upcoming replacement of the slides with further support, and the installation of the last bank of swings, but should be back up and running soon. We hope to see you all on November 16th for the Collarnary Cookoff at Vermilionville. Visit collarnarycookoff.com/attendandvote to purchase a ticket or sponsorship! education in liberal arts and sciences and promotes the sacred traditions of the Roman Catholic Church.

November 2019

Dear Guardians,

The heart of community beats so as to build up the whole.

For those of you who were not able to make our most recent parent meeting regarding the new schedule, please see the parent portal for the PowerPoint overview.

JPG CrossIf your family would like to take home the JPG Cross to pray for our school community after a Wednesday or Friday Mass for a week, contact Sarah McManus, [email protected], or see the weekly reminders email for the link to sign up.

November Servant LeaderThis month we highlight Mrs. Shelly Gallet as the November Servant Leader. During this year's Upper School Pilgrimage Week, Mrs. Gallet coordinated prayer chains for each grade on Pilgrimage. She helped to make sure the entire school community was united in prayer for the fun, safety, and growth of our 7th-12th grade students. Thanks to Mrs. Gallet, each Lower School grade had a special link to the each Upper School grade through their intentions. Thank you Mrs. Gallet for your coordination and for teaching our students to always persevere in prayer.

Soccer and Basketball kick off their 2019-2020 seasons this week! Check out their schedule and come to support our Guardians!

Congratulations to the Lady Guardians Volleyball team on a great season and playoff appearance. Special thanks to coachs Danielle Wyatt and Tiffany Capps.
