The Creed

THE ASCENSION OF JESUS & HIS SECOND COMING

Page 2: He ascended into heaven and is seated

He ascended into Heaven….

Only the one who “came

from the father”

can return to the Father: Christ Jesus.

Christ’s body was glorified at the moment of His Resurrection as proved by the new supernatural properties.

During the 40 days He eats and drinks, His glory remains veiled under the appearance of ordinary humanity.

He ascended into Heaven…. The Ascension is marked by the

irreversible entry of His humanity into divine glory, symbolized by the cloud and by heaven.

“I have not yet ascended to the Father, but go to my brethren and say to them ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God’.” – John 20:17

Is seated at the right hand of the Father....

By this statement we mean the glory and honor of divinity.

The Son is seated bodily after He became incarnate and His flesh was glorified.

Inauguration of the Messiah’s Kingdom. Fulfillment of the prophet Daniel’s vision concerning the Son of Man.

“To him was given dominion and glory and kingdom, that all peoples, nations and languages should serve him; His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.” – Daniel 7:14

What does the Ascension mean to us?

TRUTHS FOR CHRISTIAN LIVING

Page 10: He ascended into heaven and is seated

What does it mean to us?1. Jesus Christ, precedes us into the Father’s

glorious kingdom so that we, the members of his Body may live in the hope of one day being with him forever. Left to its own natural powers humanity does not have access to God’s life and happiness.

2. Jesus Christ having entered the sanctuary of heaven once and for all intercedes constantly for us as the mediator who assures us of the permanent outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

From thence He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

THE PAROUSIA & JUDGEMENT DAY

Page 12: He ascended into heaven and is seated

HE SHALL COME AGAIN TO JUDGE THE LIVING AND THE DEAD

“Parousia,” means “coming”

or “presence

”.

On Judgment Day at the end of the world, Christ will come in glory to achieve the definite triumph of good over evil which, like the wheat and the weeds, have grown up together in the course of history.

HE SHALL COME AGAIN TO JUDGE THE LIVING AND THE DEAD

The Son did not come to judge, but to save and to give the life. By rejecting grace in this life, one already judges oneself, receives according to one’s works, and can even condemn oneself for all eternity by rejecting the spirit of love.

Questions will be asked after the song is played.

Thief in the night – by Cliff Richard I could talk for hours but you wouldn’t hear a word

Your own opinions make you blindThere will come a morning when the sand has all run outThere will be no time to change your mind

Like a thief in the night he will comeThere will be nowhere left you can run toYou can fall with the night or you can riseWith the Son

He will come in glory, a rider in the skyThe Lion and the Lamb rest side by sideChildren of the kingdom, he will gather to himselfChildren of the darkness he will leave behind
