CALL FOR ARTISTS – HEALING ENVIRONMENT
June 3, 2017 Hennepin County Medical Center Specialty Clinics Minneapolis, Minnesota
I. The Project
Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) is seeking applications from artists who work in various media to be considered for (A) Commissioned work; (B) Acquisition of existing artwork; (C) Digital Photo Image use license. Installation is scheduled February 2018. HCMC is Minnesota’s premier Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center. It serves the metropolitan and extended county, its fast-‐growing residential population in downtown Minneapolis, and is a safety net hospital providing care for low-‐income, the uninsured and vulnerable populations. HCMC’s patient population is ethnically and racially diverse; its Interpreter Services translates 78 languages, and is deployed 10,000 times each month. The new HCMC Clinic and Specialty Center will consolidate 40 primary and specialty clinics currently spread across nine buildings. It will include six floors of clinics and services, housing primary, specialty care, physical and occupational therapy, same day surgery, a Cancer Center, and a skyway connection to the rest of the HCMC campus. For more building information, go to: http://clinicbuilding.org. HCMC is committed to providing an exceptional patient and guest experience, and has supported Inspire Arts, it’s multi-‐disciplinary healing arts program that champions evidence and experience-‐based design principles to transform the patient experience and promote healing and wellness through the arts. This Call For Artists will assist HCMC to acquire 252 public works of art and over 320 pieces for individual patient rooms. This special art collection will support the vision and mission of HCMC and Inspire Arts to best serve its patients, families, employees and the community.
