Early Childhood/Family EducationECFE is a statewide program through the Hibbing School Districts Community Education, for any par-ents and preschool children from birth to kindergar-ten age. It has a “parent group time” when parenting issues, child development information, speakers, and parenting support are provided by a licensed parent educator. The children have their own group time with a licensed early childhood teacher who provides planned activities and experiences that help enhance the learning and development of young children. Sponsored by Hibbing ECFE O" ce: 208-0853.ECFE classes are held during the daytime with some evenings available, Monday through Thursday, September to May. Each child comes one time per week (depending on age, classes range from 1 to 1.5 hours a piece). Childcare is provided for any other children in the family during class time. Scholarships are available. No one will be turned away because of inability to pay.ECFE o" ce will be CLOSED June 1-August 24.Greenhaven • Mondays - Thursdays September - May

Early Childhood ScreeningEarly Childhood Screening is required before a stu-dent starts kindergarten in Minnesota. The screening is a quick and simple check of how your child is doing at 3 to 4 years of age. It identifi es, at an early stage, possible health or learning concerns, so that children can get help before starting school. It is not a readi-ness test for kindergarten. Sponsored by Hibbing

ECFE O" ce: 208-0853.Early childhood screening helps a parent fi nd out how their child is doing, helps connect families to early childhood programs and other community services, and is a time to ask about parenting issues and/or concerns. If your child has been screened through Head Start, they do not have to be screened again.Hibbing Early Childhood Screenings are held 6 times during the school year. There is no charge, however appointment times are needed. Please contact the Greenhaven school o" ce (218-208-0844) for required paperwork and to schedule a screening date and time.
