The Green Academy State Energy Sector Partnership This training is one element of a comprehensive career plan and job obtainment strategy. It is recommended that other elements an accurate and complete resume, comprehensive job search, interview and interpersonal communication skills – be included in your strategy. HAZWOPER In compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 regulations, this training is required for individuals who plan to work in an area that is defined as a HAZWOPER Work Site. These courses are designed for those workers who regularly engage in hazardous waste operations, including storage or response to a spill or release. Courses are intensive training with both classroom and hands-on activities and are offered through the Mountain West OSHA Training and Outreach Center. Program Hours: 40 ~ HAZWOPER Training 24 ~ Hazardous Materials Technician 8 ~ HAZWOPER Refresher Next Courses: 40 ~ HAZWOPER Training June 11-15, 2012 August 27-31, 2012 October 22-26, 2012 24 ~ Hazardous Materials Technician July 16-18, 2012 October 1-3, 2012 December 3-5, 2012 8 ~ HAZWOPER Refresher June 4, 2012 July 2, 2012 August 20, 2012 September 14, 2012 October 4, 2012 November 2, 2012 Prerequisites: Basic Energy Certificate recommended or demonstrated competencies as determined by an SESP advisor. Certificates & Testing Process: Upon completion of the program, students will receive a certificate recognized by regulatory agencies in Hazardous Materials Handling, Hazardous Materials Technician or HAZWOPER Refresher through the Mountain West OSHA Training and Outreach Center. The Mountain West OSHA Training and Outreach Center is a consortium between Salt Lake Community College Green Academy, the University of Utah's Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health and the Uintah Basin Applied Technology College. In January 2010, Utah Department of Workforce Services (DWS) was awarded a $4.6 million State Energy Sector Partnership (SESP) grant to provide workforce training that would prepare Utahns for employment in the energy industry. The SESP grant provides qualified participants an opportunity to receive training at no cost to the individual. Training must be completed by December 21, 2012.
