HAVAN ON SHALA PRAVESH
On the auspicious day of Shala Pravesh, Principal Ms Nishi Rana, parents, students and
teachers gathered in Swami Vivekananda Lawn in the morning to mark the fruitful
beginning of the new academic year 2017-18. A havan was performed, shlokas and
mantras were recited. Each student was adorned with tilak and moli. They also sought
blessings. The auspicious day was concluded with hopes and promises to achieve new
milestones in new academic year.
From 2 April, 2017 to 9 April, 2017, the Department of
English organized ‘Literary Week’ on Charles Dickens, the celebrated novelist. During this week variety of activities were
organized to bring forth the talents of the growing minds.

02 TO 09APRIL, 2017: DICKENS’ WEEK
Students enjoyed participating in the activities like Weave-a-Tale, Spellathon,
Calligraphy, and Recitation to name a few. The most interesting activities enjoyed by
students were Mock Parliament and Essay Writing. In Mock Parliament, the students
debated on the topic ‘Examination Should Be Abolished’. It was a brain- storming
session in which each participant put forth his views with lot of convention and
assertiveness. Essay on ‘Demonetization in India was a Wonder Stroke to End Corruption’ was penned by large number of students. They took the opportunity to
express their views strongly. The winners were honoured with prizes and certificates by
the Principal in the special assembly, motivated and encouraged the students to take part
in such activities.
The Department of Computer organized a
week long IT-Fest 2017, for juniors and
seniors. During this week many activities were
organized in which students took part with lot
of enthusiasm. These activities were Corridor
Quiz, Brochure Designing, Tux Paint,
Webpage Designing, Power Point Presentation
on Golden Temple and 3D Modeling using
Google Sketch followed by closing ceremony.
It was a fun filled week. GLUED TO WIN-INFOBYTES
A Power Point Presentation on the life and achievements of Dr. B R Ambedkar was
presented in the morning assembly by Pragya House. It was a very informative and
interesting presentation.
The students of class XII visited Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and Chandigarh from 17th
to
22nd
April, 2017. They were escorted by four teachers. After Darshan at Vaishno Devi,
the students visited Pinjore Gardens, Chandigarh. It was a short and memorable trip.

‘Saaransh’, a weeklong literary week was
organized by the Department of Hindi and
Sanskrit from 17th
April to 23rd
April, 2017.
Various activities were organized in which
students took part with lot of enthusiasm and
interest. Poetry, Shlokas, Dohas were recited.
Speeches, Debates, Creative Poetry & Essay
Writing were organized with great precision.
The Principal appreciated the winners and
encouraged the students to take part in such
activities.
DOHA RECITATION
The Department of Sports organized Inter-House
Table Tennis Competition on 19th
and 20th
April,
2017 for juniors and seniors in Table Tennis Hall.
Large number of students from each House
participated with lot of enthusiasm. There were
tough and nail biting matches which thrilled the
spectators.
PLAYING FOR THE HOUSE
A trip to Splash Fun Water Park at Hisar was organized by the school for new students of
class IV to VIII on 23rd
April, 2017. Around sixty three students were escorted by five
teachers. The scorching heat could not beat the heat of the beaming and happy faces of
the students. Various rides like Columbus, Giant-Wheel etc. were thoroughly enjoyed by
each and everyone. After the sumptuous lunch, the students enjoyed water games for

nearly three hours. The students reached the school around eight; they were drop dead yet
excited and happy. The trip was enjoyed by the students to the hilt.

BRCM arranged a book fair by Scholastic
Publications in Swami Vivekananda Auditorium
from 24th
April to 26th
April for students to
experience an unusual array to the world of
reading. The Scholastic Publications displayed a
plethora of books of different genre which was a
feast to the eyes to the young minds. The young
readers did not miss the opportunity to buy their
favourite story books for their personal library. It
benefitted the students a lot. AVID READERS
MATHEMATICS IS FUN
A two days Vedic Math Magic Workshop was
conducted by Mr. Devesh Kumar on 28th
and
29th
April, 2017 in AV Room for the students of
classes IV to XII. The main aim of the workshop
was to make Maths simple & easy.
In this workshop, easy, shortcut Mental Maths
calculations, tricks were taught. The students
learnt how to do complex calculations in
seconds. The aim was to teach the students how to do calculations mentally correctly
without using a paper, pen, calculator or ABACUS using Vedic Maths Techniques. The
resource person taught four to five methods of multiplications, division, cubic root, fifth
root, percentage, how to make correct formulas, Pythagoras triplets, making any tables
and squares.

28 APRIL AND 29 APRIL, 2017: VEDIC MATH MAGIC WORKSHOP
A new found interest and enthusiasm towards maths was noted in the students after the
workshop. The students were benefitted a lot.
A New Conference Room was added with modern digital facilities in the Academic
Block for meetings, presentations, conferences etc.
