Next we’ll drive south and enjoy a short walk through the Valley of Elah, the location of the battle between David and Goliath; and drive through Beersheva - home to our Patriarch Abraham. Overnight at Sde Boker, founded by David Ben-Gurion, with the vision to ‘see the desert bloom;’ over-looking the Wilderness of Zin, in the southern desert region called the Negev.

Day 3: Wednesday, April 29

INTO THE WILDERNESS WITH THE PATRIARCH This morning we will tour the founder of the modern State of Israel, David Ben-Gurion’s home in the Negev at Sde Boker. Next, we will take a short hike to a beautiful oasis in the Zin Canyon, where Moses struck the rock in disobedience. Day 4: Thursday, April 30

THE DESERT AS A REFUGE As an option, you can begin your day enjoying a float in the therapeutic mineral rich waters of The Dead Sea. Then - Masada! One of Herod the Great’s magnificent fortresses and the last Jewish stronghold to fall captive to the Romans. Next we will visit the beautiful subtropical oasis of En Gedi, where David hid from Saul. We’ll continue north to the Qumran caves, home to probably the most exciting archaeological discovery ever made in Israel – the Dead Sea Scrolls. We will enjoy dinner and Bedouin hospitality at Abraham’s Tent. Then as-cend to Jerusalem – the city of the great King! Overnight at Christ Church Guest House, the oldest Protestant Church in the Middle East, located in the Old City of Jerusalem

Day 5: Friday – May 1 DISCOVERING JERUSALEM’S HERITAGE and BETHLEHEM

We begin our day exploring the Western Wall tunnels, Judaism’s most holy site; next we’ll experience the excavations

at the base of the wall of the Temple Mount and discuss Pentecost on the Southern Steps where Jesus walked. Then

experience Bethlehem, the birthplace of Christ at the Church of the Nativity. We will also visit the Shepherd’s Fields

where we will have time for meditation and prayer. When we return to Christ Church Guest House, we’ll gather in the

picturesque courtyard for a tour of the Heritage Center and learn how Christ Church impacted the development of Jeru-

salem and the history of Protestantism in the Middle East and also helped prepare the way for Jewish people to return to

Israel. After dinner, as an option, we could meander through the Jewish Quarter and pray at the Western Wall.

Tom & Rachel’s photo

You and your family and friends are invited to join us on this journey in the steps of the ancient people of Israel and Jesus the Messiah. From the Negev desert in the south, through the heartland of Israel, and north to the source of the Jordan River, the whole of the Land will become our spiritual classroom as we seek to understand God’s mes-sage to His people, both in those ancient days and our own. We will incorporate prayer, worship, singing, and dance as we celebrate God’s Word in the Holy Land together.

We have sought to keep the price reasonable so that this life-changing journey can be embraced by everyone who has a heart’s desire to experience the Holy Land. Shoresh Tours is a notable and experienced tour group and our tour guide will be a seasoned and gifted teacher.

Our prayer is that you will seek the Lord, asking Him if spring of 2020 is the time for you to ‘Come up to Zion.’ Next year in Jerusalem! Tom & Rachel Hare and Steve & Sylvia Neptune

About Shoresh Study Tours*

CMJ, The Church’s Ministry among Jewish People, was established in 1809 and continues to bridge ethnic, religious and national boundaries, sharing the reconciling love of Jesus with both the Jewish People and the nations. Shoresh Tours, a branch of CMJ, is a non-denominational ministry and all of our staff and tour guides are committed followers of Jesus (in Hebrew-Yeshua). Shoresh is He-brew for root. Since Yeshua Himself is the root, we focus on Him. In doing so, we take into account the fact that historically Yeshua acted and spoke as a Jew amongst Jews in the Land of Israel. Shoresh Study Tours are designed to give you new ears to hear biblical teachings in their original context and to help you grasp the Jewish roots of New Testament faith. Join a Shoresh Study Tour and be introduced both to God’s heart for the Jewish people and to the living body of Messiah in Israel, composed of Jews, Arabs and others. We hope that having experienced what the God of Israel is doing in the Land today, you’ll take home deeper understanding of Messiah and a vision for Israel, and will add your prayers to that end.
